Alex Castellanos is a CNN contributor and an aide to the McCain campaign. This past Tuesday he defended one of his colleagues who referred to women as bitches because in his words, "sometimes a woman deserves to be called a bitch". Now of course CNN made no public amends for that but word got around and he decided to apologize for it.
From ThinkProgress:
Same thing happened to me last week, last time I was on the round table, I was trying to make a point about Senator Clinton’s toughness and strength, which I respect, and I chose the wrong words and the way to say it. And I’m sorry I said it that way. It was the wrong thing.
He fit his apology in smoothly when the talk was about Hillary's disgusting remarks yesterday, where she used Bobby Kennedy's assassination to justify her staying in the race until at least June. Both Castellanos and Clinton obviously have problems putting things in a way that both prove their point and that do not offend millions of Americans in one fell swoop. The only difference is that one is a blatantly sexist remark and the other is just.....morally bankrupt. The other difference is that Castellanos is merely an aide, while Clinton is/was a candidate running for President, so by default what he says will not get much coverage.
While both of them apologized for what they said, I feel that both problems will remain. One is that Clinton isn't leaving anytime soon and will continue to make outrageous comments that do absolutely no good for the party. The other is that Castellanos is only one among many that will continue to make sexist remarks that affect all women, not just Hillary Clinton.
