Michael Gerson Fawns Over McCain

There are funny jokes out there and then there are sad, pathetic and pitiful presentations like Gerson's Op-Ed in the Washington Post this morning. He tries to paint a picture of a hypothetical Obama Administration that shows a humiliated, docile and appeasing American foreign policy that is ' insulting his (Obama's) closest friends.' The entire piece is made out to make McCain look like a warrior that will command us for the next four years that will mirror his tough talk on the campaign, while Obama is merely talking to win over the Democratic base.

What a piece of garbage:

It is the Republican dream: a tenacious, buoyant, well-funded challenger to Barack Obama who is also politically doomed -- and incapable of admitting she is doomed.

So now Clinton herself is the most effective agent of the vast right-wing conspiracy -- proving just how devious and subtle that conspiracy really is.

And this is not Agent Clinton's only contribution. By raising questions about Obama's foreign policy judgment, she has identified a potent issue -- an issue she cannot fully exploit because of the liberalism of her own party.

But John McCain could. As a thought experiment, consider the foreign policy achievements of Obama's first 100 days in office.

It gets much worse as you read farther down, if you can bear it. Gerson just doesn't get it (or maybe McCain's BBQ deluded his thinking), a continued primary race is engaging the Democratic base and strengthening whomever comes out of the Democratic primary as they go into the general election. We have not even started to focus our energy on McCain, and when we do, Gerson, the media and their narratives should be put on notice. People are sick of bloviators like this McCain-lover. Their time to bloviate and make much of a difference in the voting habits of Americans is over.
