Olbermann Calls Out O'Reilly And Fox News For Inciting Domestic Terrorism

Keith Olbermann was on point last night with his commentary about the death of George Tiller and Bill O'Reilly's culpability in the affair. O'Reilly crusaded against the doctor for several years, with highly inflammatory rhetoric. It at the very least had a partial influence on the alleged assassain, Scott Roeder. Yet O'Reilly failed to take any responsibility or show remorse, so Olbermann has an idea (towards the end of the clip) on what to do about Bill O and the entire Fox News network.

CATO Analyst Embarrasses Bill O'Reilly

Bill O'Reilly was looking for a torture-apologist to back up Dick Cheney and his neo-con friends, but he didn't find that in Army Captain and CATO Institute analyst David Rittgers.

"Unity '09" Seeks To Strengthen The Left And Obama

This could be Bill O'Reilly's worst nightmare, where progressive groups come together to strengthen the mission of the Obama Administration. Freedom of Assembly for anyone other than an officially sanctioned Bill O'Reilly group is treasonous in his eye but for the rest of us it could mean huge leaps forward for our country. For far too long Democratically-minded groups have slugged it out alone without much cohesion. This might be the end of that "strategy."

From Yahoo News:

The online-based MoveOn.org is a central player in the nascent organization, but other groups involved in planning Unity '09 span a broad spectrum of interests, from the American Civil Liberties Union to the National Council of La Raza to Planned Parenthood, as well as labor unions and environmental groups.[...]

Unity '09 comes at a time of increasing coordination on the left, including an effort this week by the Democratic National Committee, Obama's grassroots network and other groups to defend Obama's budget and attack the GOP as obstructionists.

But Unity '09 is setting a broader, and longer-term agenda, aiming to exert grassroots pressure on lawmakers in their home states over the next several years on the entire spectrum of political issues.

"When progressive activists are working in concert and the right is forming a circular firing squad, you know it's a new day," said consultant Paul Begala, who said he's not involved in the new organization.

I couldn't agree with Begala more on this. The power of our ideas and creativity combined is an extremely potent force. As the Republicans struggle to find relevancy these days, the importance of building a dominating coalition of progressive groups can not be stressed enough. At one time the conservative movement had a well-oiled machine going and they were able to make our country regress by several decades. Now that America has seen their ideas fail in spectacular fashion, it is time to propel the country back into the present-day and beyond.

This Year's War On The War On Christmas Floundered

Yet again, Bill O'Reilly and his gang at Fox News tried to paint the mean ol' Democrats as trying to ruin Christmas. Apparently, trying to extend the holiday spirit to Americans that aren't Christian is a terrible thing and must be wiped out. To nuts like O'Reilly, saying "Happy Holidays" will make it hard for observant Christians to make it to mass and be able to fill their trees with ornaments at home.

At least fewer people are taking him seriously anymore, hopefully that attitude can be extended to his network throughout the year.

Olbermann Catches O'Reilly's Contradiction On Guantanamo

Not that it is too hard to call bullshit on Bill O'Reilly, but Olbermann did just that on his show yesterday over remarks made about Guantanamo Bay. It's a tricky subject for Bill O....then again, so is pretty much every topic that he opens his mouth about.

Dennis Miller's Homophobia On Full Display At Fox

Is this the level of discussion that a "fair and balanced" network is supposed to display? Making gay jokes about Congressman Barney Frank is acceptable? Dennis Miller shows his true scumbag-nature on the Falafel Factor and Bill O laughs right along with him. Criticizing Frank for his decisions about our fiscal policy is one thing, this joke is absolutely uncalled for.

Violent Right Wing Rhetoric Becomes Tragically Real

Since September 11th, the right wing echo chamber has become increasingly violent in regards to their rhetoric. The hatred shown by pundits such as O'Reilly, Coulter, Hannity and Michael Savage has been vicious towards liberals and those that oppose their way of seeing a black and white, good versus evil world. Well people out there listen to their foaming-at-the-mouth rhetoric and unfortunately we will see tragic events like this happen more frequently.

From RawStory:

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - An out-of-work truck driver accused of opening fire at a Unitarian church, killing two people, left behind a note suggesting that he targeted the congregation out of hatred for its liberal policies, including its acceptance of gays, authorities said Monday.

A four-page letter found in Jim D. Adkisson's small SUV indicated he intentionally targeted the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church because, the police chief said, "he hated the liberal movement" and was upset with "liberals in general as well as gays."[...]

The attack Sunday morning lasted only minutes. But the anger behind it may have been building for months, if not years.

"It appears that what brought him to this horrible event was his lack of being able to obtain a job, his frustration over that, and his stated hatred for the liberal movement," Police Chief Sterling Owen said.

Adkisson was a loner who hates "blacks, gays and anyone different from him," longtime acquaintance Carol Smallwood of Alice, Texas, told the Knoxville News Sentinel.

These pathetic individuals are exactly the type that right-wing commentators go after. They seek out those that hate the world for their situation, without opening their eyes to realize that so many are in the same boat with them. Instead, it is a "me against the world" attitude that breeds hate and violence when a strong dose of ignorance is involved. Every once in a while our society is exposed to the culmination of one individual's hate. Yet it would be wrong to write this off as one loon that killed innocent people, because that loon is getting his information from somewhere.

Nas Plays Out Racist Bill O And Fox News

Fox News denied rap artist Nas' 600,000 plus signatures to stop their racist diatribes. Nas wasn't done though, he went over to the Colbert Report to make his case heard...and his personal rap to Bill O'Falafel and his Fox News bosses:

O'Reilly Shows His Racist Side Again

Bill O'Reilly really is a heartless, clueless and ignorant piece of shit. Yesterday he was discussing child pornography in relation to a minor news event in New Jersey that involves a group of students sharing topless photos of their classmates. Bill and his friends at Fox News love to play up anything sexual as often as they can. Of course Bill being Bill, has to take it to another level and subtly involve race.

From MediaMatters:

During the June 10 edition of Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor, purporting to document "more evidence of values problem among American young people," host Bill O'Reilly reported that seven ninth-graders at Pascack Valley High School in New Jersey have been suspended for distributing topless photographs of their classmates. O'Reilly asked Bergen Record reporter Leslie Brody, "Do you think 13- and 14-year-olds or 15-year-olds are smart enough to understand they put themselves at risk when they do this kind of behavior? The girls that you talked to, do they have any idea or are they just stone cold dumb?" Brody told O'Reilly that "some of these girls were 11, so they could be, perhaps, understood as being a little more innocent or thoughtless." She added: "Some kids, perhaps, are looking for attention. Some see Lindsay Lohan doing this kind of thing and want to do it themselves. Some are impulsive." O'Reilly then stated: "But it's an amazing amount of kids involved with this -- 20 -- in an affluent school district. This isn't, you know, the inner city; you would think that these kids would have some kind of a values system." O'Reilly continued: "It's not that it's so horrendous. You know, it's not murder or rape. But it's so stupid."

What's stupid is allowing a prick like O'Reilly on the air day in, day out. Racist outbursts like that of Don Imus get a lot of press and sometimes result in a slap on the wrist for such people. However it is those like O'Reilly, that ever-so-softly weave their ignorant opinions into the web of society that do the most damage.

Barry Nolan On Why He Was Fired...And What It All Means

Barry Nolan has quite the sense of humor. The post he penned yesterday for Think Progress was written by a pro and you can see it in the words and sentences. Mr. Nolan was recently fired for protesting an Emmy award honoring Bill O'Reilly. Falafel head has no honor and that is apparent every time the buffoon opens his mouth. When standing up for his principles, Comcast's Boston station let Barry Nolan go, but Barry has a parting shot for them....and words of wisdom for us.

From ThinkProgress:

O’Reilly was an appalling choice, not because of his political views, but because he simply gets the facts wrong, abuses his guests and the powerless in general, is delusional, and, well, you might want to Google: Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

Plus there was that whole sexual harassment thing – the lawsuit he settled for an estimated $10 million. Not the kind of guy you normally think of when it comes time to pass out honors.

I found that most of my colleagues felt the same way. So, on May 10th at the Emmy Awards dinner, I quietly passed out a document that contained – not my opinion – but O’Reilly’s own words and quotes from his sexual harassment lawsuit. And that is what got me fired. I got fired from my job on a news and information network for reporting demonstrably true things in a room full of news people.

Normally, in the great scheme of things – this should be a total non-story. “Overpaid White Guy Gets Fired from Cushy Job for Shooting Mouth Off.” Yawn. But these are not normal times. After the word got out that I was fired – I started hearing from people from all over the country who were outraged. A guy in Texas who had once worked with O’Reilly and had seen a meltdown like the one on Youtube – a weather anchor in Arizona – a woman in China no less.

And it all got me to thinking about the myth of free speech. In today’s America, speech is only “free” when you are talking down to someone less powerful that you. Speak “up” – and look out.

In your work life, they can fire you, as I found out, for quietly saying something that is widely known to be true. Put a lid on it.

And in our role as citizens, we have been told by O’Reilly to shut up, or Fox Security may pay you a visit. We are called traitors if we simply speak the truth about the absence of WMD’s – the way the war is going – the disgraces of Abu Ghraib, of Gitmo, of waterboarding. Shut up.

So, when exactly do they think we have the right to speak up? To speak the quiet simple truth, to people who have more power than us?

Well, I think now would be a good time. The fog of fear is lifting. The balance of power is shifting. People are beginning to talk to each other again instead of shouting. I think it’s time to reclaim the right to free speech – even if it comes at a price.

Meanwhile, if anyone needs any lawn work done or his or her car detailed – give me a call.

If I had a lawn Barry, I'd be the first one to dial your number.

Colbert Has His Own O'Reilly Tirade History

After the old video of O'Reilly going beserk came out yesterday, it appears that Stephen Colbert also had an outburst way back when.

He truly does emulate Poppa Bear!

McCain Can't Denounce His Pastor's Anti-Gay Views

Down below John McCain sat with Bill "Falafel" O'Reilly and John Hagee came up. He disagreed with the anti-Catholic statements but ignored the anti-gay remarks. Either McCain forgot the whole question or he just subliminally expressed how he feels about the LGBT community. No matter the answer to that, McCain shows he is just not on the ball, whether with his wits or his compassion for all of humanity.

What Would You Do To Protect Bill O'Reilly?

For me, I already know my answer....nothing. When you are John McCain and pandering for conservative voted prior to Super Tuesday, you might just say anything, even denying the reality for 200,000 of your fellow veterans that happen to be homeless.

Despite our differences in the Democratic primary, this is what we must keep in mind and remember the big picture.

Homeless Vets Challenge O'Reilly, Bill Decides to Hide Away

Even though Bill O would never "man up," Keith Olbermann is more than happy to give them some voice and coverage to show any of O'Reilly's fans (if there are any left) that they are merely watching the ramblings of a lunatic, certainly not a journalist of any kind.
