Olbermann Calls Out O'Reilly And Fox News For Inciting Domestic Terrorism

Keith Olbermann was on point last night with his commentary about the death of George Tiller and Bill O'Reilly's culpability in the affair. O'Reilly crusaded against the doctor for several years, with highly inflammatory rhetoric. It at the very least had a partial influence on the alleged assassain, Scott Roeder. Yet O'Reilly failed to take any responsibility or show remorse, so Olbermann has an idea (towards the end of the clip) on what to do about Bill O and the entire Fox News network.

What Is Roe V Wade All About? Don't Ask Cindy McCain

Cindy McCain may not be the one that is running for President, but when it comes to issues that affect women, you'd think she'd at least know the basic facts of a few issues. One of the most important social debates that Republicans have used effectively as a wedge is abortion rights. Democrats want to keep Roe v. Wade on the books, keeping abortion legal for those that make the choice to have one. So when Cindy went on Katie Couric's show, a simple answer, either wanting to keep the practice legal and disagreeing with her husband and Sarah Palin, or toeing the party line.

Check out what she had to say:

Couric: And do you believe Roe V. Wade should be overturned?

McCain: No. no.

Couric: No. Why not? Your husband does.

McCain: No. I don't think he does.

Couric: He believes it should be overturned. That's what he told me, and that it should go to the states.

McCain: Well, in that respect. Yes, yeah, I do. I understand what you're saying now. It's a states issue.

Couric: So, you believe it should be overturned or shouldn't be overturned.

McCain: I believe it's a states issue. That I do believe.

Oh dear. OH, DEAR. The campaign later clarified that Cindy McCain does not believe Roe v. Wade should be overturned, even though, you might know this already but, it was the express purpose of the Roe decision not to let abortion become a "states issue."

It seems that she doesn't have a clue as to what she thinks. Also, the campaign itself doesn't really know what is going on if they allowed that "opinion" to be clarified that implies she opposes her husband after agreeing with him. It looks like Sarah Palin's mom isn't the only family surrogate that needs a large dose of GOP message control.

"Rape And Incest" A Buzzword

The GOP sucker that is going to run against the recovering Tim Johnson (D-S.D.) is making news already in his brand new campaign. Joel Dykstra might have gone too far last year for his pro-life base by saying that terms like rape and incest are buzzwords meant to derail his plans to eliminate all abortions (condoned by the State that is, ya ever see The Cider House Rules Joel?).

From the DSCC:

South Dakota State Representative Joel Dykstra, who last year described rape and incest as a “buzzword” and said that “not everybody who says that really understands what it means,” declared his intention to run for the United States Senate today.

“Once again, the Republican party has turned to the fringes of the far right to find a candidate for Senate,” DSCC spokesman Matthew Miller said. “Joel Dykstra showed how out of the touch with the mainstream he is when he belittled victims of rape and incest last year. With one comment, he showed that while he may be a fitting recruit for the Republican Party, he’s not fit for the United States Senate.”

Joel Dykstra’s Macaca Moment:

"I think 'rape and incest' is a buzzword. It's a bit of a throwaway line and not everybody who says that really understands what that means. How are you going to define that?” --South Dakota state Rep. Joel Dykstra (R-Lincoln County) on why the state legislature didn't include those exceptions in its abortion ban, April 20, 2006.

If this moron thinks he's going to win by being gung-ho about making abortions illegal, he might want to take a look at how the people of his state voted on the issue last year. South Dakota made it clear they do not want to block a woman's right to choose and they certainly won't pick this schmuck to do it.

Say What?

Mitt Romney tried to explain his position on abortion to CNN today. Like the interviewer, the audience is left thoroughly confused.

Mitt Romney: Heartless

Mitt Romney is known for flip-flopping on issues, particularly about abortion. He publicly supported a woman's right to choose as Governor of Massachusetts, but now plays to the religious right. That previous stance though was indeed public, the things that went on in private were absolutely disgusting. One example was Judy Dushku's anonymous friend's pregnancy and Mitt's choice words for the woman.

From Right's Field:

In the interview, Romney scolds a woman who faces death from a pregnancy for considering undergoing an abortion, despite the fact that her doctor also recommends an abortion. He then professes his pro-choice views, which he attributes to an aunt who died from a botched back alley abortion, and political necessity in Massachusetts that’s been rubber stamped from “the brethren” in Salt Lake City.

(snip)

He said - What do you think you’re doing?

She said - Well, we have to abort the baby because I have these blood clots.

And he said something to the effect of - Well, why do you get off easy when other women have their babies?

And she said - What are you talking about? This is a life threatening situation.

And he said - Well what about the life of the baby?

And she said - I have four other children and I think it would be really irresponsible to continue the pregnancy.

The irresponsibilty and heartlessness of Romney is astounding. This man who wants to be President needs to be stopped.

Rudy To Be Excommunicated?

In case you didn't know, Rudy Giuliani is a practicing Catholic who just happens to be running for President. Scary, isn't it? The former "Mussolini of Manhattan" ruled New York with a strong hand and even nastier temper when confronted with the press. But what will he do when the Pope threatens to excommunicated him? Pope Benedict XVI has threatened to excommunicate any politician in favor of abortion and withhold communion. Yet the former mayor has another problem, he's living in sin.

From WCBS-TV:

But even without the abortion issue, Giuliani can't take communion anyway. It seems he never got a church annulment of his second marriage to Donna Hanover. Church sources said that means he's living in sin with third wife, Judith.

Will that affect the race?

"It may affect, it may not," political guru Henk Sheinkopf said. "For those Catholics who listen to the pope they won't vote for him."

A spokesman for the New York Archdiocese refused to comment on Giuliani's status in the church, saying that would involve a private communication between Cardinal Edward Egan and the former mayor in Manhattan.

Of course this is a private matter. Who cares if he is "living in sin," what matters for deciding on the next leader of the free world is if he or she can govern our nation effectively. Idealistically speaking that is. Some Catholics will vote whatever way the Pope tells them and others will not. That is just plain common sense.

However, it is just another piece of 'questionable ethics' to add to his already considerable ethics problem. Being a Republican in New York City tends to be a tough sell in middle America. Not being from middle America, I wonder just how much flak he can get over not getting the church to annul the marriage....and why the hell he let that one slip in the first place.

Bribes Against Abortions

You got to hand it to some of the lawmakers down south. This gem out of Texas is brilliant absolutely ridiculous. Apparently State Senator Dan Patrick (R- Of course) has proposed to give women $500 instead of having an abortion. Nothing like appealing to the pocketbook when it comes to the heart-wrenching choice of having an abortion or not.

More from CNN:

Republican State Sen. Dan Patrick, who also is a conservative radio talk show host, said Friday the money might persuade the women to go ahead and have babies, then give them up for adoption.

He said during a legislative conference in New Braunfels, 45 miles south of Austin, there were 75,000 abortions in Texas last year.

"If this incentive would give pause and change the mind of 5 percent of those women, that's 3,000 lives. That's almost as many people as we've lost in Iraq," Patrick said.

Patrick has filed legislation to make the payment state law, but the legislature has not voted on it.

To call this an insult to women would be an understatement. This proposal shows the naivety of Sen. Patrick and all thick-headed men like him. What makes his remarks even worse was to speak of the victims of the war in Iraq. To even try and equate the loss of life in our occupation of Iraq and those of unborn fetuses is insane. Shame on Senator Patrick and anyone else that tries to support his arrogant legislation.

Giuliani On Abortion: Circa 1989

According to Newsweek, most Republicans do not know how Rudy stands on abortion. Here is their breakdown:

How will all those social conservatives feel about this video from a few years back?

Yes that is correct, Rudy was running as a Republican-Liberal. I thought 'Liberal' was a dirty word when it comes to protecting the sanctity of life and all that jazz.
