Crazy Palin Supporters On Parade

Sarah Palin has accepted Dave's (unnecessary) apology for making jokes about her daughter and A-Rod, but her diehard supporters are still demanding Letterman resign. Cenk Uyugr takes a look at just how loony this bunch was outside of the Ed Sullivan theater this week.

Bachmann Needs A History Tutor

How Minnesotans in Bachmann's district re-elected her is absolutely amazing. Not only is the Congresswoman a lying Republican gasbag, she's seriously lacking in her American history. One would hope that the people who represent us know a little something about what has gone on in Congress and the economic policies passed before them, but not Bachmann. She showed off her ignorance in front of her fellow legislators Monday night.

From TPM:

On Monday night, our friends at Dump Bachmann reported, Bachmann took to the House floor and paid tribute to the economic policies of Calvin Coolidge and the "Roaring 20s" (the era that ended with a massive monetary contraction and the Great Depression). One particular line really does stand out, though -- saying Franklin Roosevelt turned a recession into a depression through the "Hoot-Smalley" tariffs.
Hoot-Smalley? What the hell is that? Oh, perhaps she was talking about this:

Here's what really happened: When Franklin Roosevelt took office, unemployment was already about 25%. And the tariff referred to here was actually the Smoot-Hawley bill, co-authored by Republicans Sen. Reed Smoot of Utah and Rep. Willis Hawley of Oregon, and signed into law by President Herbert Hoover.

Interestingly, this speech also happened on the same day as when Bachmann connected the 1970s swine flu outbreak to Democrat Jimmy Carter being president, even though it was actually Gerald Ford in office at the time.

Bachmann either is flying blind down there on the Hill or else she's trying to look like a complete fool on purpose. Maybe her motivation is to win some sort of award that makes her most likely to resemble the lunacy of Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. Or she might just like to see her name in the paper as the blogs (and sometimes the traditional media) lambast her for behaving like a moron.

Whatever the reason, I hope her constituents take a long hard look at their Congresswoman before deciding to re-elect her again next year. Even if they only replace her with another Republican, as long as they passed history class in high school, they'll be far better than Bachmann.

"Joe The Plumber" Implies We Should Shoot Anti-War Congressmembers And Senators

CPAC officially started yesterday and is running through Sunday. For four days, uber-conservatives will be spouting off 'words of wisdom' for their followers to take home and parrot to their family and friends. One such guru of right-wing knowledge, tax dead beat and war correspondent Samuel Wurlitzer Joe the Plumber, had a few things to say about bashing and shooting elected officials that disagree with the war in Iraq.

Congressman King (R-IA) Displays His Wingnut Cred

Congressman Steve King of Iowa shows that he will do and say anything to fearmonger and trick his constituents and any listeners of the Gallagher show. If he thinks that closing down Guantanamo Bay would give Khalid Sheik Mohammed a path to citizenship is going to fly with the American people, King might want to check out all the polls that show a large majority wants that torture-condoning symbol of American imperalism off the map. King can talk all the right-wing nonsense he wants, but that behavior is exactly what is putting his party into a position of political irrelevancy save for parts of the South.

Right Wing Lunacy Continues

While today marks the beginning of a new Presidency, nothing has changed in crazy winger land. When you have pundits such as Jonah Goldberg spouting garbage like this, you know that their mindless drivel will continue with Barack Obama in the White House.

Obama Has This Homophobe Giving The Inaugural Invocation?

I know Obama likes reaching out to both sides of the aisle in order to bring our politically fractured nation back together, but having Warren in the ceremonies is ridiculous. Getting rid of the hate has to come first as to bridge that divide and Rick Warren is a "man of the faith" that tries to divide our country even further.

Here is one of many clips showing Warren's compassion towards his fellow man:

NM Repub Accuses Dem Of 'Cutting Troops Throats'

The violent language that the right wing uses in this country knows no bounds. Commentators like Sean Hannity and Michael Savage spew their hate on the airwaves and eventually it is regurgitated by schmucks like Ed Tinsley. Tinsley is running for Congress in the open seat of New Mexico's second district. At a recent debate, this is what he had to say about Democrats and supporting the troops.

From NM FBIHOP:

Did we find Ed Tinsley's macaca moment? To be honest, I would think that Tinsley was the least likely of the serious Republican candidates to come off and say something this incredibly stupid. Steve Pearce talks off the cuff and doesn't care what others think; Darren White has a legendary temper. And Dan East... well, I have very little idea about him at all -- and he has virtually no chance against Ben Ray Lujan.

But Tinsley, at the Association of Commerce and Industry (ACI) candidate forum this weekend, Tinsley said: "How can I call my two nephews over there right now... and tell them I'm running against a guy that will cut your throat. That will cut the bottom out of your funding. That will..."

Tinsley was cut out by the booing and "shame on you" chants from the crowd. This was no liberal shindig either, the ACI is a moderate to conservative association but no matter what most Americans views are, they do not take kindly to hearing that disgusting language. It has no place in that forum and certainly no place in Congress. The voters of New Mexico's 2nd district will definitely take that into account come November.

Oh and by the way, the party that stymies funding for the troops isn't the Democrats, that would be the hypocritical GOP. Unfortunately as the article reads, the local media did not report the controversial comments but the internets have a funny way of getting stories like this where they need to go.

Michelle Bachmann Believes Jesus Saved Us From Global Warming

There are so many lunatics on the radical right and at times it is hard to choose just who is the wackiest of the bunch. Well for right now at least, I award the top wacko award to Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann of Minnesota, yes, that Michelle Bachmann. With so many Republicans that stuck around the Capitol to whine about the Democrats not giving away sweetheart deals to oil companies, it seems she wanted to stick out. Like a good Republican, she attacked Majority Leader Pelosi, but to her credit at least she didn't talk about hanging her. Instead, she stuck with global warming and mixed in a little bit of Jesus.

From TPM:

We like to keep track of the, er, intriguing sayings of Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, the Christian Right champion from Minnesota. But this latest is really out there -- Bachmann says we don't need pesky environmentalists like Nancy Pelosi around, because Jesus already saved the planet!

"[Pelosi] is committed to her global warming fanaticism to the point where she has said that she's just trying to save the planet," Bachmann told the right-wing news site OneNewsNow. "We all know that someone did that over 2,000 years ago, they saved the planet -- we didn't need Nancy Pelosi to do that."

Umm, umm, uhhhhh. What the hell do you say to that? It's kinda like hearing Britney Spears say we should just follow the President without question. That my friends, is a giant brick wall and nothing is getting through that amount of thick headedness. Back in reality, global warming is doing untold damage and Republicans like Bachmann could care less.

Right Winger Michael Savage Rips On Autistic Children

If anyone out there needs a reason why not to listen to right wing lunatics on the radio (and sadly, there are millions) then Michael Savage should be able to make my point many times over. Day in and day out, he utilizes hate and anger to rile up his audience to lash out at those with different (and saner) views than his own. However, there are things that should be beyond partisanship and autism is on the high end of that list along with not killing puppies and kittens. Yet to wingnuts like Savage, not even that is beyond his sphere of hate.

From Media Matters:

On the July 16 edition of his nationally syndicated radio show, Michael Savage claimed that autism is "[a] fraud, a racket." Savage went on to say, "I'll tell you what autism is. In 99 percent of the cases, it's a brat who hasn't been told to cut the act out. That's what autism is. What do you mean they scream and they're silent? They don't have a father around to tell them, 'Don't act like a moron. You'll get nowhere in life. Stop acting like a putz. Straighten up. Act like a man. Don't sit there crying and screaming, idiot.' " Savage concluded, "[I]f I behaved like a fool, my father called me a fool. And he said to me, 'Don't behave like a fool.' The worst thing he said -- 'Don't behave like a fool. Don't be anybody's dummy. Don't sound like an idiot. Don't act like a girl. Don't cry.' That's what I was raised with. That's what you should raise your children with. Stop with the sensitivity training. You're turning your son into a girl, and you're turning your nation into a nation of losers and beaten men. That's why we have the politicians we have."

That is the mark of a heartless man. Perhaps Mr. Savage has never met a family that have autistic children. Perhaps he doesn't have friends or neighbors that let him near them because he is a disgusting human being. Whatever the reason, there is no excuse for what comes out of his mouth and Talk Radio Network should be ashamed of themselves for putting that crap on the air, even if there are 8.25 million sad souls out there that choose to listen to it.

Wingers' Latest Target: Animated Robots

Some people have soap operas to entertain them, but I much prefer crazy right-wing radio hosts like Lars Larson. He went on Dan Abrams' show last night to defend the latest conservative talking points about....of all things, the new Disney movie Wall-E. Now I've had my disagreements with Mickey's company before (writers strike, subliminal messages in their cartoon movies, etc) but this crap about teaching kids that human beings are bad is just absurd.

From ThinkProgress:

Last night, MSNBC’s “Verdict” with Dan Abrams ran a segment on the reaction to the film, with conservative talk radio host Lars Larson largely agreeing with the right-wing attacks, insisting the movie “is propaganda.” He even half-jokingly demanded to know whether Abrams was “in favor of robot marriage.” Larson was furious that the movie suggested humans need to take care of the earth:

ABRAMS: This is craziness, right?

LARSON: No, no. … It’s propaganda! We’re talking about a movie that foists off on little kids the idea that human beings are bad for planet earth. And that’s not true. Why are human beings bad for planet earth? … If you take your kids to this, understand they’re going to come away with the idea that mommy and daddy are bad for the planet and the planet would be better off without them.

It’s no surprise that Larson, a long-time global warming denier, would detest the film’s ecological message. Larson has admitted that “we’re warming up a little bit,” but insists “it’s not caused by humans and it’s not curable by humans.”

Being good stewards of our planet is obviously fascist and fear-mongering to these deluded nit wits. Heaven forbid a movie teaches some good morals to our children about trying to reverse the ecological damage our species has done to this planet. And especially if Lars Larsen was your Dad, you'll need it.

More Violent, Now Murderous Rhetoric From The Right

No one sums it up the hateful language from the right like Jeffrey Feldman does in his new book Outright Barbarous. If only he published it a few weeks later, he could have included the scumbag Michael Reagan (son of the Gipper) and his criminal rhetoric displayed last week. Reagan called for the murder of Mark Dice, simply because his views are not the same as Reagan's. Now he's under investigation by the FBI.

From RawStory:

On the June 10th edition of his nationally syndicated Radio America show, Reagan called Dice and others in the “9/11 Truth” movement “traitors” after learning that they were sending letters, declassified documents and DVDs to troops in Iraq that they say point to government involvement in the attacks on the World Trade Center in 2001.

The effort is part of The Resistance’s “Operation Inform the Soldiers.”

“I don’t want the soldiers who are risking their lives in Iraq to be used as pawns in the creation of the New World Order,” Dice said in a recent press release. “I personally know U.S. Marines who believe 9/11 was an inside job, and they tell me that many Marines suspect that this is the case but are afraid to speak up out of fear of punishment.”

“We ought to find the people who are doing this,” Reagan said, “take ‘em out, and shoot ‘em. Really. Just find the people who are sending those letters…to demoralize our troops…they are traitors to this country…and shoot them. You have a problem with that? Deal with it. But anybody who would do that doesn’t deserve to live. You call them traitors–that’s what they are–and you shoot ‘em dead. I’ll pay for the bullet.”

“How about you take Mark Dice out,” Reagan continued, “and put him in the middle of the firing range? Tie him to a post, don’t blindfold him, and let it rip and have some fun with Mark Dice.”

Now Reagan has apologized for what he said, but still, something like that is hard to take back and it is especially hard to tamper the level of hate in the rhetoric of people like Reagan. Who knows how many crazy lunatics tuned in last week to hear Reagan order Dice's death but not today's upcoming apology. Even if they did hear the apology, they might still be tempted to do a despicable act and having someone on the air to say things like Reagan did is completely unacceptable. I'm all for the first amendment and someone's right to free speech, but when it impugns on another citizen's right to life and liberty, then justifiable action must be taken, either by the radio station or the FCC.

Blogging The Lord's Work?

I've heard that cleanliness is close to godliness, but can blogging bring you closer to the lord? Apparently if you are supporting Huckabee by blogging articles for him then you are doing HIS work. I know Huckabee has theological training, but come on, political blogging has nothing to do with God. It is a shame that he sinks this low to win votes, but then again, he is a Republican.

From ThinkProgress:

Calling them his “secret weapon,” Huckabee urged the bloggers to “clog” up the wireless system in Des Moines so that reporters couldn’t file any more “bad” stories about him. He added that by blocking the free press from doing their jobs, bloggers were “doing the Lord’s work”:

Mr. Huckabee had a rough time yesterday at the hands of the media when he announced he was canceling a negative ad against Mitt Romney and then showed the ad to the assembled reporters, who burst out laughing. Today, he turned the tables. He noted that the mainstream media might be “filing a bad story” right now, and if the bloggers were relying on the same wireless system at the hotel, they might be “clogging up the lines” and preventing them from filing.

If that’s the case, “thank you,” he said. “You’re doing the Lord’s work.”

Huckabee has repeatedly made baseless claims that his conservative causes are sanctioned by God. At a Republican Governors Association Dinner speech in 2004, Huckabee had a mock three-minute telephone conversation with God. During that time, Huckabee said that “we kind of think you’d hang in there with us, Lord, we really do.”

That may have been a mock phone call, but Huckabee probably thought he had the real thing before the dinner.

By the way, why is blocking the press the lord's work? What if the press were blocked from filing bad stories about McCain or Romney. Would that be the devil's work by chance?

Huckabee's Downfall? Rape, Murder And The Right Wing Influence

The crippling stories about the Presidential candidates are coming fast and furious lately. last week it was about Giuliani, then Hillary's negative attacks got bad press, now Huckabee has some serious explaining to do. Why on Earth would then-Governor Huckabee push for early release of a convicted rapist? Was it because the right-wing nuts pressured him to do so because one victim was related to Bill Clinton?

Blumenthal Exposes "Value Voters"

There are so many misnomers in politics, but the phrase "value voters" has to take the proverbial cake. Everyone votes using their values, not just these whacked out Christian fundamentalists. Max Blumenthal goes to their summit with camera in hand to show these people for who they truly are...and the candidates that pander to them.
