Stephen Colbert's "Better Know A District" didn't have to travel far for this week's segment. Crosstown from the Colbert studio is the 'fightin 14th' and is represented by my very own Congresswoman. Stephen's shtick is to embarrass the interviewee, but even with his pumping, Carolyn stayed cool (unlike me who couldn't stop laughing):

Super McCain Bros.
Remember when the original Nintendo came out twenty-some years ago? Personally, I loved playing Super Mario Bros as a kid, though I think my memories about it are fading, because something looks odd in this video:
Ah, the Colbert Report....inspiring such creativity across the nation!

Nas Plays Out Racist Bill O And Fox News
Fox News denied rap artist Nas' 600,000 plus signatures to stop their racist diatribes. Nas wasn't done though, he went over to the Colbert Report to make his case heard...and his personal rap to Bill O'Falafel and his Fox News bosses:

John Edwards Knows "The Word"
If you haven't watched Stephen Colbert last night, it is a must see. Congressman Murphy, Senator Clinton and Senator Obama showed up (Obama via satellite though). Despite all the segments being Colbertastic as usual, none of them compare to John Edwards doing the "Word," or should I say "edWord."
Get it? Now watch it and be prepared to laugh, a lot.

Being Unpopular Has Its Advantages
Sure, everyone around the world continues to hate America the Bush Administration more and more by the moment. As we lose our credibility from Austria to Zimbabwe, there are certain advantages to being hated so much, especially in Iraq. For instance, when U.S. troops stage a fake raid on Iraqis, it can actually increase their street credibility.
Colbert gives his take on the matter in last night's 'Word':

The Daily Show's 'Competition'
No one does fake news better than Comedy Central's hit 'The Daily Show' and recent addition 'The Colbert Report.' The duo have been so successful and influential that right wingers have taken note of it and are trying to copy the wit and humor of the left for the nefarious purposes of the right.
From ThinkProgress:
Fox News is prepping a new late-night talk show called “Red Eye” hosted by Greg Gutfeld, the former editor of UK Maxim (and Huffington Post blogger) who previously led a web-based chat show for FoxNews.com.
In a clip of “Red Eye” that was leaked online, Gutfield leads a discussion about Sen. Joe Biden’s (D-DE) racially-insensitive claim that Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) is “the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean.” In the clip, Gutfield calls Biden “my favorite person in the world,” and asks, “Isn’t [Biden] saying what every liberal is thinking,” that “Obama is acceptable because he’s…a non-threatening black man.”
Gee golly, didn't hear the racism in that one. You can see it even better in the video that you can access by clicking the Think Progress link above. What a pathetic attempt to be funny by using stereotypes and innuendo that is only humorous to those that love a good racist joke at the expense of some minority that they abhor coming into contact with. God forbid they interact with people that aren't as white as them and get a reality-check.

Colbert Defends Impeachable AG Gonzales
In classic Colbert form, Stephen skewers the Attorney General for his atrocious acts against the constitution under the tutelage of George Bush. The segment launches into 'The Word', showing a comparison between Greg Brady and Alberto. The piece is full of jabs, you just have to go watch it at
Crooks and Liars.
