Perfect Me Too!

Ann Coulter's latest stunt about telling Donny Deutsch that Jews needed to be "perfected" caused quite an outrage. That was only one of many of her ridiculous comments that the media has allowed to be aired on one TV "news" program or another. The hubbub has died down somewhat since then, but that hasn't stopped Leah Kauffman from singing and mocking Ann for being....Ann.

"Perfect me, make me petty, I want to be hateful just like Ann Coulter," sings Leah Kauffman.

Kauffman and her collaborators are probably best known for their "Obamagirl" video and song, but the latest offering takes on the controversial conservative pundit with a far more serious tone.

The song features clips of Coulter making some of her more offensive comments about John Edwards, Arabs, and the 9/11 widows. Playing off Coulter's recent pronouncement that Christians want to "perfect" Jews by converting them, Kauffman makes light of Coulter's imperfections.

Ann Coulter "Perfects" Her Anti-Semitism

At last night's Mega Meetup down in TriBeCa a few of us were joking about having a Halloween costume contest to see who could wear the scariest Ann Coulter costume. No matter how hard we could try, no one is scarier than the real thing. Today she proved just how ugly she is on the inside, showing her anti-semitic self on CNBC.

NEW YORK Appearing on Donny Deutsch's CNBC show, "The Big Idea," on Monday night, columnist/author Ann Coulter suggested that the U.S. would be a better place if there weren't any Jewish people and that they needed to "perfect" themselves into -- Christians. It led Deutsch to suggest that surely she couldn't mean that, and when she insisted she did, he said this sounded "anti-Semitic." Asked by Deutsch whether she wanted to be like "the head of Iran" and "wipe Israel off the Earth," Coulter stated: "No, we just want Jews to be perfected, as they say. ... That's what Christianity is. We believe the Old Testament."

This is absolutely disgusting. Every single pundit and TV host should bar her from their programs, if there wasn't enough proof to do so already. Her quest to sell more books has gone far off the deep end.

Edwards Versus The She-Devil

I would personally like to thank John Edwards for name-calling on Friday. I know it isn't usually appropriate or very becoming for an ex-Senator and Presidential candidate to call someone names, but for Ann Coulter, I make exceptions. Yes, we should ignore her...and I know I am doing the opposite by writing about her, but, we are talking about the she-devil here. Besides, the larger point is that we need to fight back against right-wingers like Ann. John Edwards did just that on Friday.

Edwards, D-N.C., was railing against the right-wing media -- including Fox News and Rush Limbaugh -- when he reminded a crowd in Burlington, Iowa, that his wife stood up to Coulter in a public spat earlier this summer.

"We know these people. We know their game plan. They're going to attack us personally," Edwards said. "They attacked Elizabeth personally, because she stood up to that she-devil Ann Coulter. … I should not have name-called. But the truth is -- forget the names -- people like Ann Coulter, they engage in hateful language."

We need to fight back against these people, one by calling them who they are....and then blowing them away with our ideas and our overall message that there is something better out there than using hate and manipulation. Of course John was defending his wife, someone that should not be attacked in the way that Ann went after her. This type of shit is unacceptable, and we can not just roll over and take it the way Democrats did in 2000 and 2004 especially.

We must fight back directly....and then let the message win people over after minimizing miscreants like Ann Coulter.

Coulter And Tweety: Living Under A Random House

Media Bloodhound happened upon an interesting piece of synergy last week about Ann Coulter and Chris Matthews. The Edwards/Coulter story lasted so long because Coulter was there to take the call, being on Chris' show for an entire hour. What reasonable and/or newsworthy relevance is there to an hour of the pathetic piece of crap that Ann is? Could it be because both Chris and Ann share the same publisher for their books?

Coulter showed up on Hardball this past Tuesday to promote the new paperback edition of Godless, which just happened to be released on the same day of her appearance. (Matthews also fails to point this out to his viewers.) And while this hour-long Coulterfest was nothing more than a deftly marketed, nationally televised promo book party posing as news, it only begins to touch on the disturbing synergy between the two. A little more digging reveals that Coulter's forthcoming book If Democrats Had Any Brains, They’d Be Republicans: Ann Coulter at Her Best, Funniest, and Most Outrageous, published by the same Random House company, is scheduled for an October 2, 2007 release. And the release date for Matthews’ Random House publication Life’s a Campaign (his first, incidentally, with Random House)? Whaddya know: October 2, 2007.

The article goes into much more detail and is a very interesting read. If it seems odd to you that there are so many coincidences going on here, they probably aren't coincidences. Media giants like Random House love synergy of their products wherever they can get it. Having two authors on Hardball creating controversy doesn't get much better for book sales.

This is just another piece of evidence that Tweety is nothing more than a hack for whoever his employers are. He lives off of an impression that he is a credible journalist and media entity. The more he does this, the smaller Matthews will get over time.

Elizabeth talked with Wolf Blitzer on CNN about the well publicized confrontation with Ann Coulter. Ann makes it about money, but Elizabeth wants the hate speech to be toned down. I can't agree more.

Elizabeth Edwards Slams Coulter

I love nothing more than to see Ann Coulter being put in her place (other than being completely ignored, so I will take this for now). Elizabeth Edwards did exactly that tonight on MSNBC's Hardball with Chris Matthews. Chris invited her on to talk about the latest hateful spew she let loose on John Edwards. Unfortunately for her she was surprised with a live phone call from a woman who could be our next First Lady.

"In the South, when somebody does something that displeases us, we like to ask them politley to stop doing it," said Edwards. "I'd like to ask Ann Coulter too. If she'd like to debate on issues, on positions -- we certainly disagree with nearly everything she said on your show today -- but it's quite another matter for these personal attacks."

Although Coulter flippantly agreed to a debate, Edwards kept pushing back. "It did not start with [yesterday]. You had a column a couple years ago which made fun of the moment of Charlie Dean's death and suggessted that my husband had a bumper sticker on the back of his car that said, 'ask me about my dead son.' This is not legitimate political dialogue. It debases political dialogue. It draws people away from the process. We can't have a debate about the issues if you're using this type of language."

Coulter later questioned why the presidential candidate didn't phone in himself, to which Elizabeth had a ready answer. "I haven't talked to John about this call. I'm phoning in as a mother," she said to much applause. "I'm the mother of that boy who died. . . These young people behind you are the age of my children. You're asking them to particpate in a dialogue that's based on hatefullness and ugliness instead of on the issues and I don't think that's serving them or this country very well."

Elizabeth hits the nail right on Ann's head....well almost. Not only does this type of discourse have no place in politics, Ann has no place in legitimate political dialogue. Ann contributes nothing but hate and vindicativeness that only serves herself.

The fact that she was allowed to appear on Good Morning America and subsequently Hardball shows that the media is complicit with her game. Instead of having a thoughtful debate on the issues, the media gets to increase their ratings based on ridiculous drama while she gets to sell more books. Shame on Ann and any TV show that puts that troll on camera.

Nevada Dems Dump Fox News

After weeks of pressuring from Democratic organizations, progressive news outlets and the blogosphere the Nevada Democratic Party has decided to cancel their controversial debate. We've known from the start that it was bad news to allow the right-wing mouthpiece that is Fox News to cover and 'analyze' a Democratic primary debate. Although it took some time for Nevada's Democratic leadership to understand just how bad Fox is with their biased reporting, at least they see the light now.

Fox did not take the news lightly, they issued a harsh response:

“News organizations will want to think twice before getting involved in the Nevada Democratic Caucus, which appears to be controlled by radical fringe out-of-state interest groups, not the Nevada Democratic Party. In the past, MoveOn.org has said they ‘own’ the Democratic Party. While most Democrats don’t agree with that, it’s clearly the case in Nevada.”

That is awfully nice of Fox to speak for most Democrats, even though they are managed and owned by right-wing supporters Roger Ailes and Rupert Murdoch respectively. Of course calling a Democratic organization with well over 3 million people a 'radical fringe group' is a clear cut example of the bias in their 'reporting' along with all the other examples. In fact, it was the latest Obama smear that Nevada Dems use to justify the termination of the deal.

Needless to say, the move was well received by the Democratic community. The best response had to have come from John Edwards, who was smeared with anti-gay hate speech by regular Fox News contributor Ann Coulter last week at CPAC. Plenty of other Fox News contributors and anchors regularly trash Democrats while Republicans are praised. Finally the public at large is beginning to see exactly what Fox stands for.

Romney Still Loves Kooky Coulter

Despite all of the candidates coming out to oppose Ann Coulter's anti-gay slur directed at Senator John Edwards, one of those guys still seemed to curry favor with the hate-filled mistress of the right. She said in her endorsement that she likes a guy who can easily trick liberals. Um, sorry Ann, we see right through his shit and yours. The guy will say whatever it takes to get the vote, whether it is swinging to the left up in Massachusetts or way over to the right for Ann and the rest of the wingnut brigade.

Earlier in his speech, Romney said, "I'm happy to learn that after I speak you're going to hear from Ann Coulter. That's a good thing. I think it's important to get the views of moderates." It is truly shameful that Romney thinks it's a good thing for Coulter to spew her bigotry at anyone, let alone a candidate for the presidency. Does Mitt Romney agree with Coulter's homophobia? Does he think there's something wrong with being gay, as Coulter clearly does? Romney values Coulter's support because, as Glenn Greenwald notes, "she reflects [the] true impulses" of the conservative movement." It is the same part of the conservative movement that is in attendance at CPAC every year and it is who Romney came to court and Coulter came to speak to.

Not surprisingly, Mitt Romney's campaign website printed only excerpts of his CPAC remarks. Praise for Ann Coulter isn't something that Romney would actually want the whole world to know about, only the select few true conservatives at CPAC. That didn't stop Romney from releasing the full text of his speech to RedState.com, which they dutifully published. Surprisingly it was not scrubbed of Romney's praise for Coulter or his joking approval of her as a moderate.

See, when the national audience has it's eyes fixed for the moment on crazy Coulter, Romney will try and look tough against the vitriol of the blonde-headed beast. Yet when it is time to shine to the right, he will stick with her and all her glory.

Crazy Coulter Goes Over The Line

Tonight at CPAC Ann Coulter was cheered on by the Republican crowd for her vicious remarks against liberals. She railed on Hollywood, Al Gore and Barack Obama. She saved her most tasteless remark for Senator John Edwards.

"I was going to have a few comments about John Edwards but you have to go into rehab if you use the word 'faggot,'" Coulter said.

That type of vile language has no place in politics. Plenty of mud is slung in the political discourse but that is simply over the top. Republicans have let her open that cesspool of a mouth for far too long and over time she continually out-does herself to get a laugh from the people that think like her but are too afraid to have the 'original' thoughts that Coulter expresses.

Many groups were quick to denounce her remarks. The Human Rights Campaign slammed her, the Democratic Party addressed it, even right-wing whacko Michelle Malkin expressed disapproval. The Edwards campaign was also quick in their response. Campaign manager David Bonior set up a 'Coulter Cash' link that is dedicated to raising $100,000 to show that her vitriol has no business being in a political forum. You can donate to the fund here.

Meanwhile the media largely ignored the hateful comment. Only Dana Milbank of the Washington Post mentioned it in passing. Other media publication conveniently skipped over the fact that her anti-gay slur was met with cheering approval of an audience that shows it's true colors when grouped together. We can only hope that the candidates that these people admire will be quick to throw her under the bus....where she belongs.

Now The Wingers Are Messing With My Hometown

I am a New Yorker at heart and thankfully live here now, but I did grow up in L.A. So when a winger like Ann Coulter talks shit about the city of angels, it pisses me off. Of course she is a certified nutcase and under investigation for multiple crimes but this had to be mentioned.

Recently John McCain and Mitt Romney compared NYC to Iraq, now the crazy blond-hair lady compared the civil war in Iraq to California. To her Baghdad is like Los Angeles in that the crips and bloods fight amongst themselves as the Sunni and Shias are slaughtering each other on the streets of Baghdad.
