Republicans In Virginia Think You're Stupid

It is undeniable that Senator Barack Obama holds a large lead over Senator John McCain, but that isn't stopping the Grand Old Party and their compatriots from trying to take the election by nefarious means. Voter suppression efforts are going on across the nation in order to stop the massive influx of new voters from casting their ballots. The problem though is that in many instances, the courts are throwing out many Republican challenges, such as those in Montana, Ohio and Georgia. With their legal maneuvers failing nearly everywhere their lawyers go, anti-Democratic voting efforts are using the most basic and simplistic attacks to trick voters.

From Raising Kaine:

Unfortunately, we are going to have to be constantly vigilent about crap like this.
A phony State Board of Elections flier advising Republicans to vote on Nov. 4 and Democrats on Nov. 5 is being circulated in several Hampton Roads localities, according to state election officials.

In fact, Election Day for voters of all political stripes remains Nov. 4.

It's disgusting, obviously, and possibly illegal (the state police are looking into the matter). Anyway, the bottom line is this: stay diligent, and...

GET TO THE POLLS ON NOVEMBER 4!!!
Yes, November 4th, it is a Tuesday and like every other year, we are voting on the first Tuesday of November. If you are lucky enough to live in a state that allows early voting then do it, especially in swing states expecting unprecedented turnout numbers. Seriously though, are there people out there that would still believe this crap? Particularly this year, we are expecting as many hurdles thrown our way as possible. Everyone voting for Obama and aware of the implications for our racially-tainted nation should know his opponents will be doing whatever they can to keep people from voting. Something like this is should be considered child's play.

Another Election, Another Democratic Romp

Although 2007 is technically an off year in politics, there were still a few races around the country yesterday. Just as the national polls have shown, the results reflected the mood that people want change from what Republican power has done to America. With a President that has the worst polls ever, people are electing Democrats by and large to try and combat the mess that Repubs have put us in.

In Kentucky Governor Ernie Fletcher was easily defeated by Steve Beshear. When you google Kentucky and corruption, Fletcher is all over the place. From now on, googling Governor and Kentucky will give you the Democrat that hasn't been in office in twenty years. Cheers to Kentucky for making the right choice.

Down in Virginia, the red state turned purple is becoming increasingly blue. Democrats took over the State Senate last night, sweeping out a few incumbents in the process. Next year should be even better, as Warner (R) retires, it is looking a lot better for Warner (D) to take his seat, especially with the success he had at his previous job.

Here in New York Democrats fared pretty well despite all the controversy surrounding Spitzer and his drivers license fiasco. Both sides are claiming victory, but what really counts is next year, when we take back the State Senate from the hands of the corrupt Joe Bruno. As The Albany Project put it, the GOP's perfect storm fizzled.

Happy Macaca-versary

Wow, one whole year has passed since George Allen managed to show that wonderful racist side of his. The video was a milestone for web-based media in campaigning and the beginning of George Allen's slow descent into being kicked out of the Senate by the citizens of Virginia. Witness it in all its infamous glory:

Running Away From Reality

Congresswoman Thelma Drake (R-VA) doesn't like her constituents. It is especially apparent when she runs away from their questions like she does down below. When an icky issue like Iraq penetrates her own little bubble, she scrambles away from any possible human interaction. Truly pathetic.
