Is this the level of discussion that a "fair and balanced" network is supposed to display? Making gay jokes about Congressman Barney Frank is acceptable? Dennis Miller shows his true scumbag-nature on the Falafel Factor and Bill O laughs right along with him. Criticizing Frank for his decisions about our fiscal policy is one thing, this joke is absolutely uncalled for.

O'Reilly Shows His Racist Side Again

Bill O'Reilly really is a heartless, clueless and ignorant piece of shit. Yesterday he was discussing child pornography in relation to a minor news event in New Jersey that involves a group of students sharing topless photos of their classmates. Bill and his friends at Fox News love to play up anything sexual as often as they can. Of course Bill being Bill, has to take it to another level and subtly involve race.

During the June 10 edition of Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor, purporting to document "more evidence of values problem among American young people," host Bill O'Reilly reported that seven ninth-graders at Pascack Valley High School in New Jersey have been suspended for distributing topless photographs of their classmates. O'Reilly asked Bergen Record reporter Leslie Brody, "Do you think 13- and 14-year-olds or 15-year-olds are smart enough to understand they put themselves at risk when they do this kind of behavior? The girls that you talked to, do they have any idea or are they just stone cold dumb?" Brody told O'Reilly that "some of these girls were 11, so they could be, perhaps, understood as being a little more innocent or thoughtless." She added: "Some kids, perhaps, are looking for attention. Some see Lindsay Lohan doing this kind of thing and want to do it themselves. Some are impulsive." O'Reilly then stated: "But it's an amazing amount of kids involved with this -- 20 -- in an affluent school district. This isn't, you know, the inner city; you would think that these kids would have some kind of a values system." O'Reilly continued: "It's not that it's so horrendous. You know, it's not murder or rape. But it's so stupid."

What's stupid is allowing a prick like O'Reilly on the air day in, day out. Racist outbursts like that of Don Imus get a lot of press and sometimes result in a slap on the wrist for such people. However it is those like O'Reilly, that ever-so-softly weave their ignorant opinions into the web of society that do the most damage.

Home Depot Drops The Falafel Factor

Ah, the sweet smell of justice! Bill O'Reilly lives in a land of delusion surrounded by his repugnant ego. Well Bill, you are supported by your advertisers....and one of the biggest just dropped your thick head on the pavement. Home Depot agreed they do not want their ads on a television show that is full of hate, lies and your ugly mug.

Though to complete the story, Home Depot is doing a little bit of maneuvering themselves. They claim to have never advertised on Bill O's show, even though...they have. Whoops. Why do companies that do good have to ruin it by spinning the story? Oh well, they are corporations, and definitely far from perfect.

D.C. Radio Cans The Falafel Factor

Oh boo hoo for Bill O. Except for Rush, O'Reilly is the latest failed conservative talker in the Washington, D.C. market. Despite the want of the corporate radio world to have conservative talk dominance everywhere they go, the generally liberal area of metro Washington shuns conservative talkers and radio in general. I'm sure we'll hear a hissy fit from Bill over this one. Not being on the radios of Congressmen going to work will be a tough one to handle for his massive ego.

Washington DC FM talk radio station 106.7 WJFK yesterday announced it was dropping Bill O’Reilly’s nationally syndicated show, and replacing it with a sports-talk program. The Washington Post reports today that O’Reilly’s cancellation is a “case in point” of how poorly conservative radio programs have fared in DC:

With the exception of Rush Limbaugh, conservative talk-radio hosts have struggled for years to find a wide audience on the local dial. While Limbaugh’s afternoon program remains popular on WMAL (630 AM), not many other conservatives’ programs have.

Yet despite their underwhelming performance, numerous right-wing radio hosts have been given repeated opportunities to succeed in DC. “Such radio stars of the right as Laura Ingraham, Glenn Beck and Michael Savage at times have literally had no ratings in Washington, as measured by Arbitron.”

The article also highlights the Center for American Progress' report on the corporate media world, showing how media consolidation has hurt the diversity of the airwaves. So take heart Bill, it isn't all your fault. Some of the blame can be laid at the feet of the people that hired you to blather incessantly on the radio.

Bill O Whipped By A High School Junior

Last week on the Falafel Factor, hilarity (and Bill's temper) ensued as a 16yr old from Boulder High School made mince meat of the infamous O'Reilly, turning his own book against him when the topic of condoning drug use came up. Bill is pathetic, anyone can take on this moron.

O'Reilly Only Accepts Answers That Agree With Him

What happens if you say something on the O'Falafel Factor that Bill O disagrees with? I hope there isn't anyone that is expecting a reasoned debate about the facts surrounding whatever the current issue is. Sometimes he yells at his guests (such as relatives of 9/11 victims), sometimes he points his big nabby fingers at you and other times he just cuts off your mic. The latter is exactly what happened to Robin Swanson when debating the anti-Hillary crowd on the left.

In the midst of a debate where O’Reilly was trying to pit the Left of the Democratic Party against Senator Hillary Clinton, I dared to disagree with his premise. I had the audacity to suggest that the fissures about the war in Iraq were actually in the Republican Party, not in the Democratic Party.

O’Reilly was clearly perturbed that I didn’t allow him to bully me. So, mid-sentence, apparently taking his cue from the season finale of the Sopranos, he cut my audio and video feed. Fade to black.

For a news organization that laughingly calls itself "fair and balanced," this was a new low. O’Reilly claims that his program is a "No-spin zone," but apparently, it’s "No-speech zone" if you disagree with him.

O’Reilly’s censorship of guests who don’t perform on-cue like trained monkeys is truly Orwellian. If you disagree with him, you don’t exist -- he cuts your feed.

Orwellian O'Reilly is nothing more than a partisan hack that makes his money off of fostering fear and hate on the right. His audience is pretty much all wingnuts and other Republicans. If you care to, here is the video of the incident care of Crooks and Liars.

Now, not to knock Robin, but why even bother going on his show? Trying to refute O'Reilly's talking points while his sycophantic audience feeds off the fire he spews is pointless. Those people are going to believe whatever they want to and that is why so many Republicans turn to Fox News. Deep down inside they know their views are completely off-base. Fox News exists to give them an illusory grounding for their thoughts.

It is definitely a brave act to go on their shows and be yelled at, demeaned and mocked, but we certainly aren't going to gain anything positive from those experiences.

No Falafels Allowed In Mets Clubhouse

You may be able to eat Mediterranean food at Shea Stadium but there was no love lost for Bill O'Reilly in the Mets Clubhouse this weekend. To be fair, it had nothing to with his politics. It had everything to do with credentials and O'Reilly did not have them. He must have felt that due to his status, he can just waltz in as he pleases.

O'Reilly, the FoxNews Channel talking head, got inside the visitors' clubhouse before Stadium security realized that he was not wearing a credential granting clubhouse access. He and his party then were escorted out of the room.

According to a reporter from The Record of Hackensack (N.J.), the Big Righty complained to the security officer, "You don't have to escort us out - we're going."

Coincidentally, If there is some irony surrounding the incident, it's that MSNBC's Keith Olbermann was in the Mets' clubhouse before Friday night's game. Olbermann hosts the left-leaning "Countdown" on MSNBC and he and O'Reilly have frequently exchanged barbs on their respective programs.

Despite the difference in political views, Olbermann has been around sportscasting for years. He was well known on ESPN, long before the days of his barrages against the Bush Administration. O'Reilly on the other hand is merely another right wing gas bag, and although he is (in)famous, that doesn't mean he can go where he chooses at Shea. Of course, like a good little wingnut, he didn't go without leaving a stench, complaining all the way.

O'Reilly On FOX's Lack Of Iraq Coverage: It's A Bummer

After the Project for Excellence in Journalism published a study that showed Fox News barely covered the war in Iraq, O'Reilly decided to opine on the news of the news. As a faithful Fox supporter (that writes his paychecks), he gave a few excuses on why Britney Spears is more newsworthy than the war that kills thousands by the month. One: it sucks. Two: we have a larger audience. Three: the liberals are to blame.

A new study came out by Project for Excellence in Journalism—which showed that FOX News covered the Iraq war far less than either CNN or MSNBC during the first quarter of ‘07. Wow, I was shocked, I tell you, but Bill O’Reilly had a very reasonable excuse: The author hates FOX News. Damn lefty…That’s all his audience needs to know. Ahhh..the old attack the messenger trick. What a cunning fellow Mr Factor can be at times. It doesn’t matter about the facts presented in the study after all–why bother refuting those pesky details? O’Reilly thinks that covering bombings is just a drag anyway. Why would he feel the need to show the horrors of war? It’s just war…And FOX has better rating so-ha! I say, ha!

O'Reilly And McCain: Fighting to Keep WASP Power

John McCain was one of Bill O's guests on his show last night and O'Reilly wanted to talk about immigration. He expressed his fear about people coming across the border (in search of a better life) and how he thought McCain was doing too much to allow immigrants to come to the U.S. He let his guard down (at the 5 min mark) and said exactly why he is so afraid of the immigration from Latin America.

O'Reilly's Bad Mouth

Bill O'Reilly has become one of the most closely watched figures in the right-wing media set lately. The things that come out of his mouth are well documented by sites such as Media Matters and Newshounds. Now Indiana University has published a study that finds the fear-monger says something derogatory every 6.8 seconds in his 'editorial' segment of the show. Damn, 6.8 seconds, thats quicker than I breathe regularly.

The study documented six months worth, or 115 episodes, of O’Reilly’s “Talking Points Memo” editorials “using propaganda analysis techniques made popular after World War I.” Researchers found that O’Reilly “was prone to inject fear into his commentaries and quick to resort to name-calling. He also frequently assigned roles or attributes — such as ‘villians’ or downright ‘evil’ — to people and groups.

Some findings from the study:

– Fear was used in more than half (52.4 percent) of the commentaries, and O’Reilly almost never offered a resolution to the threat. For example, in a commentary on “left-wing” media unfairly criticizing Attorney Gen. Alberto Gonzales for his role in the Abu Ghraib scandal, O’Reilly considered this an example of America “slowly losing freedom and core values,” and added, “So what can be done? Unfortunately, not much.”

– The researchers identified 22 groups of people that O’Reilly referenced in his commentaries, and while all 22 were described by O’Reilly as bad at some point, the people and groups most frequently labeled bad were the political left — Americans as a group and the media (except those media considered by O’Reilly to be on the right).

Surprise, surprise. Mr. No Spin Zone gets caught by another group that is paying attention to his crazy antics. Welcome to the club Indiana University. The reality is that Bill O is nothing but a wingnut gasbag that makes the political right warm and gooey with his hate-filled program. O'Reilly repeatedly says he is an independent when confronted about the facts of his show, pathetically trying to portray a sense of fair and balanced coverage of the news. Of course, that is just a load of shit. We all know it Bill, you might as well just come out and admit it.

O'Reilly Goes After Media Matters For Their Accuracy

The Falafel man continues to amuse us fact-checkers here on the left with his lunacy. Lately he has set his sight on Media Matters which has been keeping tabs of his atrocious behavior. Apparently Bill O doesn't like hearing himself and his vicious, hate-filled rants. A reporter recently interviewed him and used material from MM about O'Reilly. When Bill confronted the reporter that the information came from the 'biased' MM he threw a temper tantrum, claiming that the stuff was untrue.

Unfortunately for him, that Media Matters piece had the audio clip attached where you can hear O'Reilly talking trash about Iraqi citizens. He said that he has no respect for them and that they were 'prehistoric.' The guy does not care for anyone besides himself and his big fat mouth. As long as he is raking in millions by spewing hate and fear, it doesn't bother him in the slightest.

O'Reilly Complete Loses It

Bill O'Reilly is known for his monstrous ego and undying ambition to bully his guests into submission. No matter what the issue and which side Bill takes, he has to be right once he affirms himself to a position. Frequently Bill picks sensitive topics, comes to an off-the-wall conclusion and then beats his opponent over the head with it. He did this to Jeremy Glick, a son of a 9/11 victim, he's done this when the topic of Shawn Hornbeck was in the news and now his insensitivity reaches a new level.

Before you watch the video keep the facts in mind. Geraldo and O'Lielly are arguing over whether illegal immigrantion has anything to do with a tragic drunk driving accident that claimed the lives of two teenage girls in Virginia Beach a few days ago. Despite the family tragedy, Bill seizes the moment for political opportunity, without regard for the family of the victim.



Like Geraldo (of all people), Virginia Beach's mayor and the family did not take this lying down either, here's their response:

The mayor and Tessa Tranchant's father both said that making an issue out of immigration loses the focus that the girls were killed by a man that police said was driving drunk.

Ray Tranchant said, "We need to heal, and to bring immigration, that's disrespectful to a family who's just mourning."

Bill should be ashamed of himself....but of course he has no shame, so why bother?

O'Reilly Invites Snoop On The Factor, Will He Accept?

Apparently word traveled back to Bill O about Snoop's interview over in the Netherlands. The Dutch TV episode shows Snoop Dogg and his opinion on O'Reilly which isn't that pretty, especially to the sheltered minds out there. During the show Snoop said "F*ck Bill O'Reilly" among other things. Snoop also said that he would go on the Falafel Factor anytime, only it would have to be in the hood.

Well Bill got the message and invited the rapper on his show. Of course Bill had some barbs of his own for Snoop, though they did not include any cuss words. Instead he made references to Snoop's lifestyle which is far from his where he was brought up and of course threw in a drug reference. Check out the video at Think Progress.

Snoop Dogg Has Some Choice Words For Bill O'Reilly

While Snoop was overseas in Europe one interview went awry and the focus went on none other than Bill O. Apparently it isn't just the political community on the left that hates this guy. Snoop wants to go on the O' Falafel Factor but not at the Fox studios, this exchange would have to take place in the Dogg Pound.

O'Falafel Spins The No Spin Zone

Two things that come to mind when I think of O'Reilly is that he is bully and a liar. The bullying part is easy to see but the lying takes some facts. There has been plenty of debunking when O'Reilly says something that doesn't measure up to the truth. The 'No Spin' Zone itself is a falsehood. Bill is constantly trying to take facts and spin them to his own twisted worldview. In this particular instance, his bullying and his lies coalesced into one giant debacle that left him out in the cold after the National Center for Missing Children refused to let him speak at one of their events in Naples, FL last month.

O'Reilly spoke viciously of kidnapping victim Shawn Hornbeck in the last couple of months, saying that he preferred to be with his captor rather than back at home and in school. Many of Bill's guests questioned O'Reilly's judgment on the matter but he was having none of it. After many protests and an effective campaign to have O'Reilly pulled from an event that he had no business being at, O'Reilly was sure to be pissed.

Bill never mentioned that he was yanked, obviously irate about the fact that someone took him down a notch. The NCMEC made a brief statement that they had become aware of Mr. O'Reilly's statements about abused children and decided to go a different route by inviting John Walsh instead.

Local reporter Brent Batten tried to get the story from Fox, but was given the run-around:

On Feb. 14 I e-mailed Fox News producer Ron Mitchell, who works with O’Reilly, asking him for a few words of explanation as to why O’Reilly was no longer on the March 9 program.

He responded promptly, directing me to Fox News spokeswoman Irena Brigante. I called Brigante, who referred me to Ernie Allen, the president of the NCMEC. Allen, Brigante said, had a letter on the subject and would read it to me.

Allen did not return repeated messages left at his office.

The only “letter” I could find was a short posting on the NCMEC web site stating, “In response to the numerous e-mails and inquiries we have received, we are providing the following update regarding the Collier County, Florida branch fundraising dinner. Bill O’Reilly, will not be a speaker at the dinner.”

Why couldn't O'Reilly or his people give a straight answer? If something brushes Bill's ego the wrong way, he simply spins it away.
