Jay Smooth breaks down the difference between labeling someone a racist and calling out what they said as racist. With tensions rising as the election approaches, this is an important reminder to keep your cool with any McCain supporters or those that are undecided about Obama based on the ridiculous information being thrown out there.

Rush Limbaugh Still A Racist
Rush Limbaugh recently signed a $400 million dollar contract with the people that put him on the air across the country. For that amount of money, what exactly does Rush contribute to the national debate? Well nothing really, unless you count the increasing racist tone in his attacks against Barack Obama. Yesterday's outburst grabbed the attention of many anti-discrimination groups.
From ThinkProgress:
Continuing his race-based attacks from the day before, Rush Limbaugh declared yesterday that Sen. Barack Obama’s (D-IL) success so far is because people “can’t criticize the little black man-child:”
LIMBAUGH: It’s — you know, it’s just — it’s just we can’t hit the girl. I don’t care how far feminism’s saying, you can’t hit the girl, and you can’t — you can’t criticize the little black man-child. You just can’t do it, ’cause it’s just not right. It’s not fair. He’s such a victim.
Limbaugh has made racist attacks on Obama his forte. In March, he declared Obama had “disowned his white half” and “decided he’s got to go all in on the black side.” Last year, he called Obama “Barack the Magic Negro.”
Now the radio stations would never think of pulling him from the air, no matter how incendiary he gets. As long as Rush pulls in the dough nobody in any position of power gives a damn. So that is why people need to call his advertisers....and ask why they agree with his comments.

Don Imus Is Still A Racist
In what must be shocking news to Citadel and ABC Radio that carries the "new and improved" Don Imus, the tainted radio host made another racially charged comment on his new show today. Of course this is no surprise to everyone outside of those radio boardrooms who do not profit off of Don Imus and those that enable him with ratings. The fact is, this wasn't about it if he would make another comment, it was just a matter of time.
From The Politico:
On “Imus in the Morning” Monday, the controversial radio host Don Imus — who was fired last year for making racist and sexist remarks about the Rutgers University women’s basketball team — made a racially freighted comment about another African-American athlete.
During the show, conversation turned to a story about how suspended Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones now wants to drop his well-known nickname. In the course of the segment, Imus is told that Jones has “been arrested six times since being drafted by Tennessee in 2005.”
Imus asks: “What color is he?”
“He’s African-American,” the host is informed by one of his on-air sidekicks.
“Well, there you go,” Imus said. “Now we know.”
What is it with Imus and minority athletes? Did he get picked last for teams during recess in elementary school? Nah, he just prefers to remain willfully ignorant about race in America and decides to stir the pot to get ratings, not caring about the outcome. If Imus wanted to address race and crime in this country with substance, he could address roots of the problem, not to make jokes at others' expense. Like CBS, it is time for Citadel and ABC to rid themselves of this menace and other radio stations should pay attention as well.

What's A Spear-Chucker Mr. Hume?
Republicans try to craft their words as carefully as they can when it comes to getting their message across. Though sometimes they stumble and let their true feelings out. Remember Tony Snow's little gaffe? Well current Fox News anchor Brit Hume had a slip of his own today when talking about Fred Thompson and another former Senator and astronaut John Glenn.
From Crooks and Liars:
Hume: …he had a mixed record in the Senate and he's a man who always seems somewhat frustrated and bored by the Senate…I particularly remember an investigation that occurred after the Clinton/Dole campaign. We were new here at FOX news and we carried a lot of the hearings live. It was in the campaign finance alleged irregularities with monies supposedly seeping into the American political campaign of Bill Clinton from Chinese sources and so on—it was pretty juicy stuff it looked like a very big deal.
Fred Thompson was the chairman of the Investigating committee and it went absolutely nowhere. he was effectively buffaloed in that investigation by none other than John Glenn—who was a wonderful man, but not somebody normally you would think capable of being a real partisan..ahh…ahh.. spearchucker, who could, who could undo an investigation. So it didn't go very well and I think Fred Thompson has acknowledged since then that it wasn't his finest hour…
Well Brit that investigation didn't go anywhere because there was nothing to it. The matter was one of the many childish attempts at trying to bring down Bill Clinton. But wait just a moment. What is a spearchucker? If I was an innocent four year old I would conclude the definition to be a person that chucks or throws spears. But Brit isn't four years old and neither am I.
Urban Dictionary calls it "A derogatory phrase for a black male used in reference to his primitive abilities to hunt animals with a long sharpened object." Now why would you associate that garbage with John Glenn, let any person regardless of party affiliation. That type of racist garbage has no place in our society and definitely not on television by someone who attempts to look like a civilized human being.
