Even Steinbrenner's Death Is An Opportunity For Rush's Racism

As a Dodger fan, I was never an enthusiast for George Steinbrenner. Seeing that he passed this morning though, I felt for his family and the Yankee organization, because life comes before any sporting rivalry. However for Rush Limbaugh, sports wasn't on his mind when considering Steinbrenner's memorial. Instead he went here:

Cenk Uyugr Rips Rush For Being An AIG Apologist

It isn't news that Rush Limbaugh is a scumbag, but the audacity he has to defend the bonuses given to A.I.G.'s already-wealthy traders who destroyed their company is just beyond ridiculousness. Cenk rightly calls him on it:

Rush Limbaugh thought he was hot stuff when he tried challenging President Obama to come on his show to talk about the issues of the day. Of course, since Obama is President, his priorities include things like the economic crisis, dealing with Congress and fixing all the other problems created under eight years of George Bush. Talking to Rush Limbaugh is incredibly low on that list, if it's there at all.

Being the good Democratic Congressmember that Brad Sherman (CA-27) is, he has willingly stepped up to take Obama's seat and debate the hatemonger radio personality himself. Rush hasn't responded to Brad's requests, so he has written Mr. Limbaughg an open letter. A letter I might say that doesn't pull any punches.

"If you had any confidence in your position, you would agree to my request to have me on your show--where I'm sure I could demonstrate the merits of my views," he wrote.

"You are a coward," he assessed. "Very truly yours, Brad Sherman."

Limbaugh has yet to respond, said a spokesman for Sherman. Limbaugh's producer, Kit Carson, told the Huffington Post he hadn't seen the letter, but that he couldn't speak for Limbaugh. The radio talk-show host, who Democrats portray as the leader of the GOP, is taking the next two days off, said Carson, and will return Monday.

Rush can return whenever he wants, but being able to actually take on Brad Sherman when it comes to finance is a losing proposition. As a former intern of the Congressman, I can tell you that I've seen that degree from Harvard Law and that he knows his stuff in the field. Oh and he isn't just any lawyer, he's a tax attorney, one of the toughest fields to go into (not that it doesn't pay of course). Rush on the other hand, is a right-wing blowhard who relies on malicious lies, fear and innuendo to bully his opponents. Thinking that this debate would be a fair fight is a joke and Rush knows it.

Steele's Latest Gambit, Getting The GOP Sober

RNC Chairman Michael Steele is the gift that keeps giving. Just as having Rush as the actual leader of the GOP, Steele's almost daily comments must have much of his party on edge while he has Democrats laughing almost constantly. Although this doesn't beat his "suburban hip-hop" comments to the Washington Times two weeks ago, comparing his party to an addict in throes of their addiction is certainly amusing.

Speaking to the Maryland radio station WBAL, Steele said that "no one individual" was head of the party and described his comments downplaying Limbaugh's show and influence as inartful. He added that if Republicans wanted to ascend back to the heights of political power, they had to stop trying to be "cool and hip in a Democrat way," and admit their past mistakes.

"I am putting the party on a 12-step program of recovery," said the RNC chair. "This is going to take some time, it is going to take some effort. But we are prepared to move forward and to state the case, make the case to the American people that we have something to offer. We are not here to be the party that is just here to say no. We are not the party to be in opposition just for the sake of opposition."

Funny enough, drug addict Rush Limbaugh is the head of the party and he'll fight tooth and nail (at least through a microphone) to make sure people know it. I wonder if Steele was indirectly telling Rush to find recovery for his own good. I don't know how he's doing with Oxycontin, but Overeaters Anonymous could be at least one program for him to try.

As for the Republican party, there is no way that anyone on the right is going to get past the first step if they don't even acknowledge a problem with their actions. Over at CPAC last weekend, the general idea was that they were not active enough in their addiction to "free markets" and hating the Democratic party at all costs. It would be akin to an alcoholic drinking more to solve his or her problems caused by all that booze. What the GOP really needs is to be thrown into rehab where they learn how their pro-corporate policies have been ruining millions of American lives.

Limbaugh Can't Tell Difference Between Constitution And Declaration Of Independence

The leader of the Republican party showed off his ignorance at CPAC this weekend when he talked about the Constitution. Not only did he mistake the Declaration of Independence for the Constitution, he completely misunderstood the intent of the framers and what we as a nation are allowed to do with the "living, breathing" document.

During his speech to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on Saturday, Rush Limbaugh got some of his loudest applause when he declared that President Obama’s policies represent a “bastardization of the Constitution.” He attempted to prove his devotion to the document by quoting from it:

We love and revere our founding documents, the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. [Applause] We believe that the preamble to the Constitution contains an inarguable truth that we are all endowed by our creator with certain inalienable rights, among them life. [Applause] Liberty, Freedom. [Applause] And the pursuit of happiness. [Applause] Those of you watching at home may wonder why this is being applauded. We conservatives think all three are under assault. [Applause]

"Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" is a quote from the document 'heard round the world' on July 4th, 1776, not when the Constitution was written more than a decade later. Of course, the principles that our country was founded on don't mean much to Rush, since in his mind, the primacy of the General Will has been replaced by the particular will.

Yeah that's right, I used a little Rousseau on Rush. I'm sure the famous French theorist would have a field day with the likes of Limbaugh and his dittoheads.

Of course, dittoheads, Republicans, especially the types that attend CPAC pride themselves on being ignorant, so that their failed ideology can still live on in their narrow minds. Later on in the speech, Rush said that the Constitution does not need to be redefined, which would make most rational people wonder what he thinks of the twenty-seven amendments to the document. Items such as ending slavery, giving women the right to vote, for the people to be able to elect their Senators are all "redefinitions" of the Constitution.

As incompetent and irrational as he is, Rush is still the de facto leader of the GOP and yes, that is pretty sad.

John McCain Needs To Worry About Himself, Not Rush Limbaugh

Senator John McCain took the time to go on Fox News and defend Rush Limbaugh's status in the Republican party over at Fox News this morning. He basically told Obama to lay off, but really Senator, don't you have more important things to worry about besides the king of hate radio, like saving your own skin?

Rush Being Attacked By Dems...And Republicans Too?

Unlike the cowards in the Republican caucus that cower before Rush Limbaugh, plenty of Democrats are willing to stand up and attack the hate-radio icon. Conservatives may love to listen to his racially-tinged and morally-bankrupt rants, but the other side of the aisle has no problem calling him what he is.

Alan Grayson, the outspoken member from Orlando, as usual, wasn't mincing words: "Rush Limbaugh is a has-been hypocrite loser, who craves attention. His right-wing lunacy sounds like Mikhail Gorbachev, extolling the virtues of communism. Limbaugh actually was more lucid when he was a drug addict. If America ever did 1% of what he wanted us to do, then we'd all need pain killers."[...]

Earlier Maryland congressman and chair of the DCCC, Chris Van Hollen, actually released an official statement on the DCCC website about Limbaugh's remarks.

"Rush Limbaugh's reprehensible remark that he ‘hopes' President Obama fails to meet the extraordinary economic challenges Americans face has no place in the public discourse.

And those are just two of the remarks out of the bunch. Now granted, some Republicans have tried to keep more of a distance from Rush, but the truth is, there is no real leadership in their party and the only thing they know is rabid partisan extremism, something that Mr. Limbaugh excels in.

When It Comes To Racism, We Still Have A Long Way To Go

While Rush Limbaugh leads his rabid wingnut followers further down the dark path into political obscurity, we here in reality still have to confront the horrors of racism. Tuesday was a great day for the country, to see an African American sworn in as our President is truly incredible. Yet not all is well and Obama is but a step on the right path. Just ask Pam Graf, who had her house burned down while traveling to Washington, because she was an Obama supporter.

CUMMING - In the unseasonable cold of a clear January morning, Forsyth County mother of three and ardent Barack Obama supporter Pam Graf was sifting through the charred, hellish remains of what was once her home on Lanier Drive.

Graf's home had been burned to the ground. No one was in the home at the time of the blaze. Graf said her three children had been sent to stay with their father while she driving to attend the presidential inauguration.

Could it have just been an innocent fire, caused by faulty electrical system or a carelessly left candle?

Graf's home burned down early Jan. 18 in what authorities are calling a "suspicious fire." Most shocking to Graf, and to some of the citizens of the county, state and nation at large, was graffiti the apparent arsonist left on scene.

Spray painted on the fence around the home it said, "Beware [expletive deleted] your black boy will die."

Rush Limbaugh said to Sean Hannity this week (see link above) that, "You know racism in this country is the exclusive province of the left." No Rush, it belongs to all of us, to those that burn down houses, to those that fight it, to those that don't...and to those that try to deny it.

With McCain's Chances Dwindling, Wingers Go Full Out Racist

Race has always had a role in this Presidential contest, but with fifteen days remaining, things are getting real ugly. Colin Powell's endorsement of Obama yesterday was the tipping point for many such as George Will and cartoonist Gordon Campbell. Rush Limbaugh on the other hand was already far past that line of decency so you can only imagine how he saw the eloquent endorsement by the retired General.

Yesterday, Rush Limbaugh said that the only reason Gen. Colin Powell endorsed Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) was because they’re both African-American. “Secretary Powell says his endorsement is not about race. OK, fine. I am now researching his past endorsements to see if I can find all the inexperienced, very liberal, white candidates he has endorsed.” On his show today, Limbaugh went a step further and shouted his accusation against Powell:

Let me say it louder, and let me say it even more plainly. IT WAS TOTALLY ABOUT RACE! The Powell nomination — or endorsement — totally about race.

So of course, only white people can endorse whites, brown for brown and black for black. If something doesn't go Rush's way, it can only be explained in the simplest terms and generally with derogatory language attached. Limbaugh is pissed that one of the last respected conservatives has ditched his party, but honestly, who the f*&k cares? People should seriously be ashamed of themselves for listening to his crap day in and day out. Though I must say, in one aspect, this is all about race. Limbaugh's tirade is all about race because he wants to see a white winger like McCain to replace the current white winger in the White House.

Rush Limbaugh Still A Racist

Rush Limbaugh recently signed a $400 million dollar contract with the people that put him on the air across the country. For that amount of money, what exactly does Rush contribute to the national debate? Well nothing really, unless you count the increasing racist tone in his attacks against Barack Obama. Yesterday's outburst grabbed the attention of many anti-discrimination groups.

LIMBAUGH: It’s — you know, it’s just — it’s just we can’t hit the girl. I don’t care how far feminism’s saying, you can’t hit the girl, and you can’t — you can’t criticize the little black man-child. You just can’t do it, ’cause it’s just not right. It’s not fair. He’s such a victim.

Limbaugh has made racist attacks on Obama his forte. In March, he declared Obama had “disowned his white half” and “decided he’s got to go all in on the black side.” Last year, he called Obama “Barack the Magic Negro.”

Now the radio stations would never think of pulling him from the air, no matter how incendiary he gets. As long as Rush pulls in the dough nobody in any position of power gives a damn. So that is why people need to call his advertisers....and ask why they agree with his comments.

The Devil Extends His Deal With Rush Limbaugh

In exchange for delivering daily doses of right-wing talking points and outrageous comments, the devil (a.k.a. Clear Channel and Premiere) has made an extravagant deal with conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh. Rush has already been going strong with his ditto-heads for twenty years and now all of us will have to put up with him for the next eight. The only winner out of this, if you can call him that, is Rush, who will receive a cool $400 million over that time.

The A.M. radio host will be paid about $400 million to continue serving up his daily dose of conservative patter through 2016. His $50 million a year paycheck represents a raise of about $14.4 million a year over his current contract, which was paying him $285 million over eight years and was set to expire in 2009.

The deal — struck a month short of the 20th anniversary of “The Rush Limbaugh Show” — is thought to be the most expensive in radio since Howard Stern moved to Sirius Satellite Radio for a reported $500 million in 2004.

“I’m not retiring until every American agrees with me,” Mr. Limbaugh, 57, said on his radio program Wednesday.

Well then Rush will either become immortal and earn a gazillion dollars over the next few hundred years. More likely though, the devil will give up eventually and throw him into the hell that he so richly deserves. That hell will be a more equitable, prosperous and free society.

Rush Limbaugh, Still A Big Fat Idiot

Well he may have lost some weight, but his urging of ditto heads to go out and vote for Hillary Clinton today isn't well thought out. Even if Senator Clinton wins, it won't matter in the scheme of things because all of this is just priming Obama for the real dirty tricksters....those that are friends with Rush.



Oh and Rush, don't try to say that the Republicans will play nice this year. You know better than that, come on. You'll be slinging the mud at us just as fast and furiously as any RNC/McCain operative.

Massa not only calls Rush on his bullshit, he challenges him to let him on the Limbaugh show.

Harry Reid Engages Rush Limbaugh On The Senate Floor

Majority Leader Reid got up on the Senate floor to condemn Rush Limbaugh for his unpatriotic and callous comments about the majority of our soldiers. Of course Rush being Rush, he quickly snipped back, lying with every little bark.

Army Blogger Annihilates Rush The Phony

There is no one better to harp on Rush Limbaugh for his outrageous comments than an actual soldier. According to Rush, Alex Frisco is a phony soldier. Well Alex decided to proclaim his phoniness in a post that uses brilliant sarcasm. He talks about his initial rejection from the Army (like Rush got) and how he got in anyways because he wanted to serve (like Rush didn't). Well Alex has learned a thing or two since he went to Iraq for a fifteen month deployment. It turns out he now sees himself as a "phony soldier."

As a phony civilian hoping to be a phony soldier, I tried to enlist in the military after I graduated high school in 2003. In 2002 I had a Nissen fundoplication operation to repair a hiatal hernia caused by severe acid reflux, preventing esophageal cancer later in life. I was immediately flagged on my attempt to enlist because of this surgery, as there was a chance that a physically stressful job such as Army infantry would complicate it. I had to be cleared by the surgeon general before entering the service. As the war kept on, so did I. I waited for a little over a year to get my results back: I would finally be able to join despite the surgery I had two years prior. As Rush found after dropping out of his first year of college at Southeast Missouri State University in 1969-1970, he found himself on draft status. Nothing that a claim of an old football injury or a boil on the ass can take care of, though! The medical deferment he was referring to was a pilonidal cyst, which apparently is a clump of severely ingrown hairs. That barred him from enlistment, and I'm sure he was ecstatic. After all, there was a war on. Here's a first hand account of the surgery that was done to correct it. She claims that in eight weeks, it was perfectly healed. Rush is willing to sacrifice the lives of Americans in Iraq but not his own ass (literally) in a simple surgery. I waited a year to get in, and he didn't try. Boy, do I really give an effort at being a phony soldier!

There are plenty of examples of "phoniness" that Alex found in Iraq. Read his post and see for yourself. If this doesn't convince everyone of the idiocy that Rush encompasses, I don't know what is going to save you from your delusions.

Senate Dems Demand Apology From Rush

When Rush Limbaugh heard that people might be offended by his remarks calling troops against the war "phony soldiers" he must have been taken aback. Being Rush, he promptly edited the tape so that he could say he was taken out of context. And of course he never apologized to the majority of our troops that do want out of Iraq. Too bad for him, Media Matters had recorded the conversation in its entirety. Now the Senate Democrats are getting involved and are looking to pass a resolution condemning his behavior, similar to Republicans going after the "Betray Us" ad presented by MoveOn. Here's what they had to say.

The letter, signed by Sens. Harry Reid (D-NV, Dick Durbin (D-IL), Charles Schumer (D-NY), and Patty Murray (D-WA), states that Limbaugh’s comments were “outrageous” and “unconscionable”:

Although Americans of goodwill debate the merits of this war, we can all agree that those who serve with such great courage deserve our deepest respect and gratitude. That is why Rush Limbaugh’s recent characterization of troops who oppose the war as “phony soldiers” is such an outrage.

Our troops are fighting and dying to bring to others the freedoms that many take for granted. It is unconscionable that Mr. Limbaugh would criticize them for exercising the fundamentally American right to free speech. Mr. Limbaugh has made outrageous remarks before, but this affront to our soldiers is beyond the pale.

Yesterday, ThinkProgress asked whether lawmakers who voted to attack a MoveOn newspaper ad would now condemn Limbaugh. The Senate leadership is challenging all their colleagues to demonstrate whether they can show principled condemnation by signing onto the letter. It specifically calls on Clear Channel to issue an apology and demands Limbaugh do the same:

Thousands of active troops and veterans were subjected to Mr. Limbaugh’s unpatriotic and indefensible comments on your broadcast. We trust you will agree that not a single one of our sons, daughters, neighbors and friends serving overseas is a “phony soldier.” We call on you to publicly repudiate these comments that call into question their service and sacrifice and to ask Mr. Limbaugh to apologize for his comments.

Clear Channel gives Rush a free pass because he makes them oodles of cash. I personally know one of his former handlers (you can ask me who if you are curious) and he would bend over backwards for Rush. Anything from looking over carpet patterns for his wife to wiping Lord Rush's ass. It is time to hold them accountable for his actions too. If it weren't for the radio scion, we wouldn't have to listen to his garbage. Condemning Rush and Clear Channel is the right thing to do.

Chickens Can't Distinguish Phonies From Real Soldiers

Rush Limbaugh is one hell of a guy. He claims to support our troops but reality has a way of showing what he truly means by that. Rush only likes troops that supports his narrow view of the world. If our soldiers want out of that terrible mess in Iraq, he slams them for being "phony." How the hell would he know what a phony soldier was, he chickened out of going to war in the first place. All those drugs in the last few years must have also scrambled that fat little head of his as well.

During the September 26 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, Rush Limbaugh called service members who advocate U.S. withdrawal from Iraq "phony soldiers." He made the comment while discussing with a caller a conversation he had with a previous caller, "Mike from Chicago," who said he "used to be military," and "believe[s] that we should pull out of Iraq." Limbaugh told the second caller, whom he identified as "Mike, this one from Olympia, Washington," that "[t]here's a lot" that people who favor U.S. withdrawal "don't understand" and that when asked why the United States should pull out, their only answer is, " 'Well, we just gotta bring the troops home.' ... 'Save the -- keeps the troops safe' or whatever," adding, "[I]t's not possible, intellectually, to follow these people." "Mike" from Olympia replied, "No, it's not, and what's really funny is, they never talk to real soldiers. They like to pull these soldiers that come up out of the blue and talk to the media." Limbaugh interjected, "The phony soldiers." The caller, who had earlier said, "I am a serving American military, in the Army," agreed, replying, "The phony soldiers."

Rush was immediately countered by such real soldiers as Jon Soltz, founder of VoteVets. Jon knows what it is like to be in combat in Iraq, since um, he was there. Rush is simply a vocal representative of a certain sect of the population that needs to puff up their chests with phony machismo to look tough, even if they are little cowards on the inside. If these chickens really want to be tough, they should pluck their feathers and start enlisting.

Of course, you know that ain't happening.
