More Defending Marriage Hypocrisy From GOP

What two Republican Senators out there would be better to stand up and "defend marriage" than Larry Craig and David Vitter. Republicans are playing to their rabid base by introducing an amendment to the Constitution that would define marriage as that between a man and a woman.

Larry Craig, as you might remember from last year was caught in airport bathroom soliciting sexual activity from an undercover policeman. He has also been suspected of hitting for the other team in Washington for sometime.

Then there is David Vitter, who was outed as a Senator that frequented the D.C. Madam and had relations with at least one prostitute back in his home state of Louisiana. While Craig is still trying to fight off the charges that he had pled guilty to, Vitter was let go with little more than a slap on the wrist.

Thankfully this year the Democratic Party has the majority on the Hill, and this bill won't see the light of day. Then again, with the abominable FISA bill still afloat, you never really know these days.

Vitter Has A Problem With Prostitutes And Parking Signs

To be fair to Senator Vitter he wasn't the one driving the car, but as for the prostitutes, thats all on him.

For Corruption's Sake, Vitter Defies Separation Of Church And State

Senator Vitter is in the news again today. This isn't about his relationship with prostitutes in Washington or New Orleans, but it certainly ties into the story. See, Vitter has no problem violating one of the ten commandments (adultery that is). That doesn't mean that he isn't willing to defy the constitutional decree of the separation of church and state. Vitter personally earmarked $100,000 for his creationist friends in Louisiana.

The nonprofit Louisiana Family Forum, launched in Baton Rouge in 1999 by former state Rep. Tony Perkins, has in recent years taken the lead in promoting "origins science," which includes the possibility of divine intervention in the creation of the universe.

The group's stated mission is to "persuasively present biblical principles in the centers of influence on issues affecting the family through research, communication and networking." Until recently, its Web site contained a "battle plan to combat evolution," which called the theory a "dangerous" concept that "has no place in the classroom." The document was removed after a reporter's inquiry.

The group's tax-exempt status prohibits the Louisiana Family Forum from political activity, but Vitter has close ties to the group. Dan Richey, the group's grass-roots coordinator, was paid $17,250 as a consultant in Vitter's 2004 Senate race. Records also show that Vitter's campaign employed Beryl Amedee, the education resource council chairwoman for the Louisiana Family Forum.

The hypocrisy of it all is amazing. The money is absolutely sickening. Creationism can be hyped up all it wants in the church, but keep it far, far away from our government. Our founding fathers are turning in the graves from this news.

Sen. Vitter Is In Flynt's Sights

Porn publisher extraordinaire Larry Flynt has it in for Senator David Vitter of Louisiana, and rightly so. Vitter proclaims to be a family values Republican when he is the farthest thing from it. Vitter fessed up to being associated with the DC Madam but denied dealing with prostitutes back at home in New Orleans. Despite his denials, the truth in his mind and from his words does not even come close to the reality of the situation. The hypocrisy of the matter is what keeps Flynt on the attack, to expose Vitter and other politicians who espouse one thing to the masses and do the opposite when the cameras are off.

Adult magazine publisher Larry Flynt brought the prostitute who claims to have had an affair with U.S. Sen. David Vitter before the media on Tuesday and called on Vitter to resign the seat he won by campaigning on a platform of conservative values.

In her first public appearance since the allegations emerged, Wendy Yow Ellis told reporters that she used to meet Vitter for sex several times a week between July and November 1999, only months after he was elected to Congress.

Ellis said Vitter found her through an escort service and would meet her at an apartment at Dauphine and Dumaine streets in the French Quarter. At first, he knew her only by her stage name: Leah.

She said the assignations ended "abruptly" when she proposed escalating the relationship and divulged her real first name to Vitter. She shares that name with his wife, Wendy Baldwin Vitter.

The similar name thing is interesting, but looking at the entire situation is appalling. If Vitter had even a shred of decency in his bones, he would resign. Of course he doesn't so we must go down this path with Flynt leading the way. Vitter is going to whine and complain, but until he resigns, this is just one more scandal that keeps sprouting legs in the press. I am happy to let him continue, because whatever message machine the Republicans have left, this story, the Larry Craig fiasco and others will continue to erode the hopes of the GOP.

CREW Files Ethics Complaint Against Vitter

There has to be accountability for elected officials who screw up. Senator David Vitter is a prime example of a morally bankrupt politician that says and preaches one thing while doing the exact opposite. He "came clean" when his name was about to be released by the DC Madam, Deborah Palfrey. But the whole story is still buried and he denies many of the other allegations about him. Instead of apologizing he went on the offensive, disgracing his constituents and playing them as fools in the process. So the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington decided that they wanted to see the Senate investigate him so we can get to the bottom of the mess, take the appropriate action and move on.

Today, CREW filed a Senate Ethics complaint against Senator David Vitter (R-LA). We asked for an investigation into whether he violated the Senate Rules of Conduct by soliciting for prostitution. The complaint can be found here.

On July 9, 2007, it was revealed that Sen. Vitter's telephone number was included in the so-called "D.C. Madam," Deborah Jeane Palfrey's, list of client telephone numbers. Sen. Vitter confirmed that he had sought Ms. Palfrey's services, saying in a statement, "this was a very serious sin in my past for which I am, of course, completely responsible."

Two other women also have alleged that Sen. Vitter engaged the services of prostitutes. According to Jeanette Maier, the "Canal Street Madam," Senator Vitter visited a New Orleans, Louisiana brothel several times in the mid-1990s and a woman who worked as a prostitute under the name of Wendy Cortez has claimed that several years ago, Senator Vitter was a regular client of hers.

Engaging the services of a prostitute violates both District of Columbia and Louisiana criminal law.

Following the law isn't the most favorite pastime of David Vitter and other "morally superior" people, it is time to teach them a lesson.

This is a pathetic attempt at damage control. Instead of apologizing to the public and especially his constituents, he lashes out at people who call him out on his hypocritical nature. Then he goes on to talk about all the good things he'll do back in Washington. He even had his wife front and center to play the victim card to its utmost. This man needs to resign.

Save Little Senator Vitter

There's a new David Vitter campaign and it has nothing to do with politics. Concerned citizens heard what Mrs. Vitter would do to her husband, taking his member while making Lorena Bobbitt proud. Now that the truth is out about his extramarital activities, it is time for her to deliver, but there are people who want his better half to not go through with it.

Senator Vitter Knows The D.C. Madam

He probably has more intimate relations with one of her former employees, but what counts is that he is on her infamous phone list. The Louisiana Republican fessed up yesterday to his connections with the Madam. He says that he used her services before he ran for the Senate in 2004 and already has been forgiven by God and his wife. Well thats great for you and Mrs. Vitter, but what about your hypocritical nature when it comes to claiming you are virtuous while Democrats are the party of sin?

"This was a very serious sin in my past for which I am, of course, completely responsible," Vitter, 46, said in a statement, which his spokesman, Joel DiGrado, confirmed to the Associated Press.

"Several years ago, I asked for and received forgiveness from God and my wife in confession and marriage counseling," Vitter continued. "Out of respect for my family, I will keep my discussion of the matter there -- with God and them. But I certainly offer my deep and sincere apologies to all I have disappointed and let down in any way."

Neither Palfrey nor her attorney, Montgomery Blair Sibley, could be reached for comment last night. Sibley told the Associated Press that his client posted the phone records of her escort service on the Internet yesterday, four days after a federal judge lifted a restraining order preventing their publication. The records were included in a series of files on a Web site devoted to Palfrey's legal defense fund.

This isn't the first time he has been involved with escort/sex services before. When he ran for election in 2004 he was accused by a member of the state Republican party of having a long-term relationship with a prostitute down in the French Quarter.
