Up in New Hampshire citizens take their Presidential politicking seriously. One likely Republican got up to give Rudy some praise, but then asked about why his family isn't supporting him. The other week his daughter Caroline had informally announced her support for Barack Obama on her Facebook page. Of course Rudy couldn't give a good answer since any truthful reply would look pretty damn bad. So instead he attacked the questioner and then gave the audience some bullshit about health care. The questioner, Derry mother Katherine Prudhomme-O'Brien, opened by thanking Giuliani for how he handled the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and introduced him to her 5-year-old daughter, Abby, who was playing on the floor next to the platform where Giuliani stood. Prudhomme-O'Brien, 36, wasn't certain about Giuliani's answer. "If a person is running for president, I would assume their children would be behind them." she said. "If they're not, you've got to wonder." She said the issue is a question mark that is "going to stay there for a lot of people." Giuliani wants to give families a $15,000 tax credit to buy insurance privately rather than through employers and he proposes that any money left over from the credit be kept in tax-free health savings accounts.
From the AP:
Prudhomme-O'Brien is on to something. Your family should support you, regardless of divorce or separation, especially when it is your own daughter. After Rudy snarled in self-defense, he talked about his health care "policy" that would give tax credits only to people that could actually save $15,000 on their taxes. If you are in the working class and pay little taxes already, you won't save a dime. No wonder his family won't support him, no one can trust the garbage that comes out of his mouth.

Rudy's Daughter Ditches Dad, Becomes Another Obama Girl
So much for family sticking together. It is a rare sight for the children of politicians straying from the nest when the family goes to the polls, but Giuliani has a new "daddy." Politically speaking of course.
From Slate:
There's one vote that Rudy Giuliani definitely can't count on in his 2008 presidential bid: his own daughter's. According to the 17-year-old Caroline Giuliani's Facebook profile, she's supporting Barack Obama.
On her profile, she designates her political views as "liberal" and—until this morning—proclaimed her membership in the Facebook group "Barack Obama (One Million Strong for Barack)." According to her profile, she withdrew from the Obama group at 6 a.m. Monday, after Slate sent her an inquiry about it.
You got to love the internet and sites like Facebook. I wonder if dear old Dad even got the message personally, the news probably came to him in the same way we all read it. Rudy has been slipping in the polls and now losing support from his own flesh and blood. There are certain things that can tip you off to the demise of a campaign and this might just be one of them.

Giuliani Drama
Graduation day for Caroline Giuliani was a bittersweet event for all the parties involved. The best part was that his daughter was moving on to start at Harvard in the fall and she had gotten her diploma at the prestigious Trinity School. They got Senator Schumer to speak at their graduation ceremony. Talk about high society. Well anyway, the drama was all around Giuliani, his ex-wife and estranged kids.
From The NY Post:
May 26, 2007 -- The big chill between Rudy Giuliani and ex-wife Donna Hanover was on full display yesterday when both attended their daughter Caroline's high school graduation - but sat as far apart as possible and never spoke.
When the commencement speaker, Sen. Charles Schumer, noted Giuliani's presence and the audience broke into applause, Hanover and her son, Andrew Giuliani, sat stone-faced and didn't clap.
But Hanover and Andrew jumped up and cheered when the Harvard-bound 17-year-old Caroline received her diploma from the tony Trinity School, while Giuliani and his wife, Judith, didn't even crack a smile.
This story is more than a sad reflection of a broken family. It is indicative of the way Rudy relates to people. If there has to be drama on that magnitude in order to be in the same building, there is something seriously wrong.
I know it isn't about family that matters when you run the free world, it is a person's leadership ability and having the skill to comprehend what is going on around you. Well in addition to not talking to his kids or his ex-wife, Rudy can't comprehend much besides the phrase "9/11."
